Judgemental Gen X wooks are more insufferable than bros IMO
That is just because we are judging you, that you feel that way though.
Pretty much but anyone who goes out of their way to be obstinate when discussing music is just awful which sums up waaaaaaaaaaay too many posters on this forum.

Haha. I have to disagree a bit there. There was a point, and certainly it started at the tail end of the Baby Boomers [tm], but people tended to be classified by the music they listened to. Think at a less extreme level the Goth Kids on Southpark. A lot of what defined people as cool/uncool came from what they listened to and how deep their knowledge was. When I was in school, you had the nerds, jocks, rah-rahs, heads (later known as raludes), but when it came to music, the chumps were all "commercial." It might sound pseudo-sopjhisticated and elitist, but if you were commercial, you were basically considered to be a fn chump.
Having said that, it can be amusing to read people defending as "great" some weak ass Sirius/XM flavor of the month band. And that's epidemic on Inforoo.
Hippies predate me, and I always liked them. Same goes for most wooks. The only ones who annoy me are the gutter-punk ones who travel from festival to festival living off of ripping other people off. That's bullshit. Want to live a Bohemian lifestyle? Great. Become a shakedown vendor. But don't rip other people off to support your habits and lifestyles. At Waka this year, some of them got into RV and ripped off.a friend's clean underwear. Wtf? Clean or not, I'm not putting on someone else's fn drawers. Then in Pod 10 at Bonnaroo, this couple I know packed food to cook for the whole weekend. Much of that was stolen out their icechest. But worse than that, a dude camping next to them had his Roo bracelet snipped off while he was passed out under a canopy. That's just an uber dick move. I'm blaming wookies because it's easy to do so even though no one is sure they were the actual culprits.
I really wanna see them go collab route. I know it's a dream but a Big Grizmatik show with PL would be legit.
All my kids and a bunch of their friends went and saw that at Decadence last year. I doubt GRiZ or Gramatik is back again next year though unfortunately. But yeah, some Pretty Big Grizmatik would be awesome. Tribe brought out Big G at Waka for a 10 minute jam, And the night before was a 2:30am Gigantic Underground Conspiracy that was mFN excellent. All those guys in that sort of hybrid funk/jam/edm scene are doing cool shit imo. They are charting sort of a new subcourse in music. Break Science, Lettuce and all those guys play with them too. Also, underrated but soon to be in the midcard Kung Fu did an 11 piece Steely Dan show around Jazzfest that also ruled. One of my neighbors who was there still talks about it all the time, and I ran into Sgt Blotter and his gf there too. He's a big fan of them.

Me too even though VIP has to be looked at as at least slightly risky due to the takeover by AEG Live/Goldenvoice. I'm not sure what to expect in the way of benefits and perks. Hopefully they will continue with the ones that matter to me: prime stage viewing locations, skip the festival entrance line access, riverboat including special performances and most importantly, free alcohol. I'm not worried about a $20-25 price increase, so hopefully that's as much as it goes up this year with the corporate takeover. I'm sure there will be a mix of good and not-so-good/annoying artists since that's pretty much the way it always is. And since WCP will continue to be involved, I'd look for the formula of mixing buzz acts/rap/edm/rock-jam-jamtronica to continue.

They better not change the VIP stuff. I personally don't care about the free booze, I know its a great perk, but I don't drink. The other stuff, I do care about, front row viewing, the boat viewing/avoidance of kiddos, and the special performances on the boat are always pimp. I will be very disappointed if that changed.

Never been before. I have traveled all over for shows and feel like an idiot for skipping this one so many times...hopefully its worth it.
If you look at previous lineups, and you find enough to like, it's a good time. What I think is cool about it is that the setting is great. And there are really different feels to the atmospheres of all of the stages. The crowd tends younger, but all ages are there. Security can get annoying but they don't arrest anyone not working the crowds. But it's still very much a giant party festival. I would strongly recommend that you go VIP if you drink and if you want to be able to get from stage to stage and not get stuck in the back. They have conflict after conflict, which they are known for, so I split a lot of sets. With prime, front row sections in the float den and main stage and with the balcony access to the Ballroom, you can show up mid set and be up front or at least close and have elbow room at 90% of the shows. The riverboat is cool as shit, and you can chill on that and watch main stage sets if the weather is nice. If not, there are 2 or 3 levels inside the boat too, and they have a stage in there for vip only. Imho, vip value is 2nd to Waka
Edit to say that the only rumor I have heard is that Pretty Lights confirmed a headline spot months ago. The guy who said that has sources with mixed success. He was living here back then so... Im not sure.
