Stumbled upon this, because I got distracted/attracted to the album art that snowmanomura posted of Vinyl Williams. That led me to see they were playing in a town called Utopia, TX. Which led me to finding this fest.
This actually looks like a really cool festival! Capacity is capped at 2,000, with 2 stages and no overlapping sets. So definitely an intimate affair.
Amazingly good lineup for a fest of this size too.
From some brief reading, looks to be a very relaxed and chill atmosphere.
If I'm off from work, think I might try and hit this up. Less then 2 hours from me.
One of my favorite festivals. You're upfront for everything. Good food trucks, super intimate. No cross over so you can check every band out. Last year it rained on us like mofos and they had to shut one stage down and cram the line up in one stage. Went flawlessly. Byob means wine bottles n drinks passed.
Owners last year felt bad about the rain, so the 2nd they loaded up a pick up full of cases of Dos Equis and were handing them out. and I mean like 50 some cases for something they couldn't control. Very kid friendly.
No pat downs or over reaching security. Beautiful valley between hills. Utopia and surrounding cities are full of your usual friendly folk w cool little diners.

Wow, this looks so awesome. That lineup is killer for a 2k capped festival. Man Man is one of my personal favorites, and The Suffers are one of the best acts I've seen this year.
Nothing had me more excited than seeing Hard Proof on the lineup though! Really awesome worldly / funk band from Austin. Same horn section as Black Joe Lewis. I had the chance to see them at The Sahara Lounge in Austin a few years back and it was an all out sweaty dance party. Absolute blast.
Monie forgot you'll be in Austin at this point too, need to start tagging you for ATX things!
That makes it seem so real!
And yea, EAP has already been working on talking me into this. Seems like you can buy tickets pretty last minute and still go. Between the price and my unknown school situation it's going to be a last minute decision for me. I do want to go though. So if I can swing it, I'm in.
I hope they still have a disc golf course at this. Awesome perk that no other festival that I've ever seen or heard of has had.
there is a course at wakarusa, but the way they setup camping (at least the years I went) there is no way to play it without the threat of decapitating someone.
