Members: Mike Kerr (bassist/singer) and Ben Thatcher (drummer)
Biography: Hailing from Brighton England, formed in 2013 after Kerr returned from a trip to Australia. Amazingly, they played their first gig only two days after forming Royal Blood. They immediately garnered attention before their first single was even released. With only two instruments, they made an impact with heavy distortion, pounding drums and intense lyrics. The duo released ‘Out of the Black’ and signed with Warner Bros. ‘Little Monster’ was the second single released, which later appeared on their four-song EP in February of 2014.
Sounds Like
Genre: Blues Rock, Hard Rock, Garage Rock
Similar Artists: White Stripes, Black Keys, Japandroids, Reignwolf
Suggested Listening Since they only have the one album and a couple of singles, I would recommend just listening to all of their music. Including the B-sides. It will only take you a couple of hours, but after the first song you will be hooked. Here are a couple of my favorites:
Physical Reaction/Live Show: I haven’t had the honor of watching them live yet, but have been tracking them since I first heard ‘Out of the Black.’ I would imagine that they are going to rock out hard and it will be amazing.
Interesting Facts Before they even released their first song, Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys was seen wearing a shirt supporting Royal Blood at Glastonbury Festival in July 2013.
Howard Stern and Jimmy Page are both fans.
Were nominated for BBC Sounds of 2014
Personal Notes Like I said earlier, this band has been on my radar for awhile. I think that they are fantastic and I am super stoked to see them at Bonnaroo. The combo of hard rock and sultry lyrics really gets me.
I keep forgetting to check this band out. Suriel posted them in Now Playing a bit ago and reminded me. Thanks to you both. Gonna check 'em out now.
edit. Fucking a, sometimes this dude's voice is almost indistinguishable from Jack White's. edit 2. These songs are pretty intense and that music video for Out Of The Black is awesome. Definitely gonna at that album to the list.

They are so good. I have been following them since the end of 2013 and they have been my number one must see since being announced for Bonnaroo. I was trying to catch them all last year.
