Its a pretty fun festival, I have been the last two years. My biggest problem is it seems to attract a bunch of bratty little highschool shits who don't know the first thing about attending a festival. From being belligerently drunk/fucked up on rec substances (and they'll be sure to let you know that they are since they are so cool) to pushing their way to the front of stages mid sets... I don't know I noticed it way more at FPSF than at Bonnaroo and even ACL. I know those people exist everywhere but seems like here in Houston we have a bountiful amount of them. Couple this with the fact that since the festival is technically held on a road and down off the side of the road, it made me feel very claustrophobic. Just my two cents from my experiences. Won't be going this year seeing as ticket prices have gotten so expensive, and the lineup doesn't have Passion Pit, Modest Mouse, Florence, etc...
I grabbed a Fancy Pants ticket. The undercard looks great.
I don't blame you. For me personally, I had a semi unrealistic bar set in terms of what artists would push me over the edge to buy a ticket. Seeing as none of them made it on there, just didn't make sense for me with a VIP Roo ticket under my belt already. As a word of caution, getting home is a pain in the ass in terms of getting a taxi. I was able to walk from my apartment in midtown one year and it was amazing. If you can do that I would highly suggest it, depending where you live.

According to my iPhone map I'm only 1.8 miles away. Think I'm going to walk.

30 minute walk aint too bad. Although it does depend if you're walking through the ghetto parts of the area surrounding ET park...

Oh I didn't think of that. I think I'm in a good area though.
Don't be fooled, there is really no good area in downtown (surrounding ish) Houston. What area are you in? Heights, Midtown, Washington, Downtown? I have no clue how new you are but I've been down here almost 4 years and could let you know the best way, if there is one.
I've been the past 3 years but I'm still on the fence about going this year. Theres a good amount of Bonnaroo overlap that would help with schedule conflicts. But the $170 price after fees feels a little steep.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

I guess I don't know what my area is called. I'm off of Waugh. Memorial Parkway is right by me. All I know is when I put my address in to the festival it's 1.8 miles. Thanks for the heads up.

If you're looking at downtown and the Bayou is on your right, you're on the Washington side (Washington Ave is a great street for food and bars). There's J Blacks (don't waste your time there), Porch Swing, and Star Pizza right on Wash of Waugh. If you're looking at downtown and the Bayou is on your left, you're on the Midtown side, although jusssttt outside the realm of it where you have all the bars like Front Porch, Celtic Gardens, Pub Fiction etc... Personally that distance is out of my comfort zone (at night, you're good during the day). My advice, after the fest is over, walk to The Refinery on West Dallas and get a drink or two and wait for a cab there.

I really need to learn this area better haha. I went to Front Porch Friday night and that is really close to where I live. Washington Ave isn't far from me either. My cousin works at Bubba's Bar and Grill on Washington Ave. I'll have to check out those other places you listed. I'm not familiar with The Refinery but I know the street I live on runs into Dallas. Thanks again for the tips.

Got an email that blind presale is Feb 26 at 10am. It was from Front Gate and only said that make sure you have hot sauce in your bag (swag) and they'll see you in HTX. I'm not sure what any of that means, but it's June 4th and 5th this year.
It was on my radar, but it's off now. I don't really want to see any of the top 7, and there is only a smattering of acts that interest me (most of which I have seen already).
