Sad news. Great performer, great band. Glad I had the pleasure of seeing them. They never took off the way they deserved to, so I understand his frustration.

NOOOOOO!!! Ugh. All the sads. I love them, seen them 5 times. Top 5 band of mine.

I'm so fucking pissed that I didn't go to that show in Birmingham now.

I'm seriously going to cry today is the worst. I can't even listen to music because no internet. My phone is almost dead, we aren't going to print and my favorite band calls it quits. FML. I got some great shots of him from ACL 2013 I'll share when I finally have internet again.
They've done these kinds of shows before. I think it's a great way to get a bunch of acts together for a special concert. One day I'll make it to one of these shows.
I was really confused by this at first. then I realized that fortyfive33 was talking about the new album, and you were talking about the gentleman of the road shows...
I have to admit, when I first heard there was a band on the rise called "viet cong" I was definitely thrown off a little. it's definitely.... risky? but then again, I also don't think it really matters all that much, either. having their show cancelled was a bit ridiculous - if a person is offended, then just don't go to the show.
One of the biggest festivals in Australia (Future) just got axed. While their lineups were 90% shitty EDM, they'd sometimes book a great headliner like The Stone Roses, so it's a shame to see it go. And worrying for what it means to the Aussie festival market.

it means come back for bonnaroo.
I only say this with so much sincerity because one of NotMitchelBade best friends is in Australia.... but basically yall should come.

ABC 10 reports that popular DJ Steve Aoki is being sued for accidentally breaking an audience member’s neck during a concert at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. Aoki is well-known for his raucous stage presence, from throwing cake at his audience to jumping into the crowd whenever he feels like it. In this case, which took place almost three years ago to the day and is just now getting ready to go to trial, the DJ set up an inflatable life raft in the audience, climbed the stage rafters, and then jumped an estimated 20 feet down onto the raft and proceeded to crowdsurf. This is apparently something that he does at a lot of his shows. Brittany Hickman, who was visiting San Diego from Scottsdale, Arizona at the time, says that she was standing near the front of the stage when the incident occurred, and was knocked unconscious. “I was trapped underneath the pool raft because they threw it out right where I was standing,” she told ABC 10. “My friends told me he landed on top of the pool raft, hit me on top of the head and I got knocked over.”
Here’s video footage of the jump in question:
After she didn’t get up, a security guard allegedly carried her out of the crowd. “I came to when one of the people working for the Hard Rock was wrapping my ankle,” she said, and added that she was disoriented from the fall. “They released me back into the concert. At the point when I walked outside, that’s when I realized where I was.” She didn’t understand what had happened to her until they had left the show.
It wasn’t until she was back in Scottsdale that she went to the hospital for a CAT scan after still not feeling better. “The doctor comes in and he says ‘don’t move.’ The medics come over and start to put a neck brace on me,” Hickman recounted to ABC 10. “And I remember thinking what’s going on. And the doctor said you broke your neck. […] If I would have thrown my arms above my head or reached for something, I could have paralyzed myself.” She was in the hospital for three days, and couldn’t go back to work for two months.
Hickman is suing both Aoki and the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego. When ABC 10 reached out for a comment from both parties, they refused because the lawsuit is still ongoing. The case is set to go to trial on 8/28.
Miguel and the MGM Grand Hotel are also being sued for a similar incident after attempting to jump across the stage at last year’s Billboard Music Awards and kicking someone in the audience in the head.

The Who don’t seem to live by the tried and true mantra of “sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.”
According to Newsday, frontman Roger Daltrey threatened to prematurely end the band’s concert in Long Island on Wednesday night due to an excessive amount of marijuana smoke.
Daltrey is apparently very allergic to pot smoke and the mere presence of its causes his voice to shut down. Adds Newsday, “The smoke’s impact was almost immediate on his voice, which went from crystal clear and potent for the opening ‘I Can’t Explain’ to something rougher and more limited during ‘I Can See for Miles.'”
As you can see in the video below, Daltrey ultimately confronted the audience member who was smoking, threatening to walk off stage unless the bud was put out. The fan seemingly obliged and the show continue on as planned.

How is he allergic to JUST MJ smoke? That seems odd. You would think it would be all smoke since they basically have the same compounds once exhaled, right? I mean I am not an expert in that shit, but am allergic to the world, and ALL smoke bothers me, even if I am a corn-head.
