How does Lockn' compare to Bonnaroo? Similar vibes? Overall, how is it?
Went for the first time last year and had a blast. Since its a jam fest definitely more of a hippie vibe than Roo and attendance was around 30,000 so much smaller. No overlapping sets is a big plus.

I went to my first Lockn in 2014. I think roo has better aesthetics and non-music offerings, but Lockn definitely has potential. As someone else said, the non-overlapping set thing is a big plus. It was nice finding a spot in the field and hankering down for hours of music. I also liked the setting in the hills of Virginia. My only complaint was they made us set up camp on a hill with no grass, just red clay. Needless to say it was horribly dusty and then horribly muddy when it rained a bit. But overall I think they did a bang up job - and I plan on returning this year. As for the vibes, everyone I met was super friendly, so in that respect it was a lot like my previous roo experiences.

Yeah, that's a bummer. If Roo can't get them to do a headlining set for 3 million then their not playing any festivals.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Phish - My Morning Jacket - The Doobie Brothers - Widespread Panic
In a newsletter Lockn sent out last year, they said they had sent out an offer to Neil Young for 2013 and 2014 but they never heard back. "Neil Young & Crazy Horse did not confirm our offer, maybe next year."
Given that the Dead have no recent touring history indicating they could support a triple stadium play, producers are treating this as a true one-of-a-kind destination event, a la Led Zeppelin at the O2 in London in 2007.
Added Lesh: "It is with respect and gratitude that we reconvene the Dead one last time to celebrate - not merely the band's legacy, but also the community that we've been playing to, and with, for fifty years."
The one remaining burning question: will the Core Four return to touring as the Grateful Dead? Weir says it's unlikely that the Chicago bow will be part of a longer run, it's by no means the end of the road. "I know we'll all continue playing this music forever in our own ways," he says. "I've got some miles left in me."
From all the quotes I have seen it seems that this is it as far as the core 4.
1/17 Spafford 2/7 Greensky Bluegrass 3/17 Cool Cool Cool 3/28 Ekoostik Hookah 7/10 Jason Mraz 7/11 Chris Stapleton 7/12 Red Hot Chili Peppers 7/13 Buffalo Ska Fest
Their off to a good start. Holding out hope for Neil Young & MMJ this year. If they get either I would go in for the whole weekend. I had a blast last year, and its hard to beat the student discount.
Stoopid...I never really listened to them until I saw some clips from the TRI studios session...joined by Ian & Ivan Neville, Karl Denson and Weir on a few tunes. Seen them a few times now and enjoy.
Wish they would just drop the lineup. Fuck a one at a time deal.
Still mad about hangout? I'm in the same boat with firefly.
As as for lockn, they have been adding solid artists so far. I can't see them releasing every single artist this way though, probably leading to a lineup drop

That is exactly what they did last year. Released one at a time until they were done.

Ahh I was unaware, did not pay attention to this festival last year. Thanks for the info.
