I just got offered a free ticket to Thievery Corporation tonight. Only some what familiar with them. Anyone ever seen them live? Is it worth going to?
full band or dj set?
full band is definitely worth it. i've never seen their dj sets, but i like their style so I would personally check it out.
though i've seen a couple rob garza dj sets and those are all over the place, both in style and quality.
The website doesn't specificy so I'm guessing that means it's the live band? Can't really tell. Ah well. Already said yes to the ticket but I know I'm going to be sitting in crazy traffic getting into nyc. Thanks for the info, hopefully it'll be good!

Yessssss, thievery corp live is absolutely amazing! They are one of the shows I'm most hoping we get at roo. Your mind is going to be blown by the sheer number of people that get on the stage throughout the course of the night (assuming it's the live show and not a DJ set)

Haha well now I'm pretty excited to check this show out. Sounds like I'm in for a disappointment if it turns out to be a dj set though... The website just says Thievery Corporation and usually they bill it with the artists name followed by "(dj set)" if that's what I'm in for. Fingers crossed!

So it did turn out to be the live band. That show was great. Didn't realize how many songs if theirs I already knew. I loved how they had several singers/rappers so the show never got too repetitive. Thanks for convincing me to brave the traffic, had a blast!

So glad to hear that! I saw them at Hulaween and they seriously blew me away. Did they have "John Lennon" and "yoko" at the show you went to?
My only complaint is that I wanted them to play a lot of their new album (because it's my favorite of theirs) but other than that, they're amazing. I think they're kinda likely to get a LN Tent slot this year at Roo.

Noticed Above and Beyond are in Tennessee in February. But with the new album coming out I think it would be safe to say they are about a lock for Roo and a LN set even though they haven't been rumored at all.

personally I'd love this, they'd be a great LN tent set

Especially if they taped it for an episode of their podcast

oh man, what i wouldn't give for that. don't think that's something they'd do though, lately they've just seem to have live sets once every 50 episodes, like ABGT 100 just happened at msg. hell, that'd be awesome if they played til sunrise, they could do it, but see them getting an hour and a half maybe 2 hrs

ok i know people generally dislike zedd. but if you think he's not talented you're nuts. little after 17 min in they show him recording the drums for clarity, just saying you won't find most of the cheese edm acts in the studio recording their own drums. that is all
The first thing I thought when I heard they were making an Entourage movie was "Calvin Harris should make his acting debut in this." Christmas dreams do come true!

Speaking of Calvin, I'm actually listening to his 2011 Essential Mix and if he would play these types of sets when he toured I would definitely welcome him to Roo and be at that set.
He doesn't. He plays Feel So Close and Swedish House Mafia remixes.
Edit: this was his setlist when I was forced to endure him: Feel So Close I Need Your Love (Nicky Romero Remix) Bounce Sweet Nothing Million Voices (Otto Knows cover) Awooga / We Are Your Friends Spectrum (Florence + the Machine cover) (Say My Name) We'll Be Coming Back Save the World (Swedish House Mafia cover) Move (Sidney Samson cover) Monkey See Monkey Do (Tommy Trash Remix) Drinking From the Bottle We Found Love Cannonball (Showtek cover) Cream (Federico Franchi cover) (Calvin Harris Remix) Reload (Sebastian Ingrosso, Tommy Trash & John Martin cover) Need U 100% (Duke Dumont cover)

oh no. no thanks. I don't want any of his pop songs. I'd probably stay in hopes that he would open up with Under Pressure and C.U.B.A. and then immediately run for the hills and go to any tent imaginable the furthest away.
