Ernest Greene grew up in Perry, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia, receiving an undergraduate degree. Greene then attended The University of South Carolina and obtained a Master of Library and Information Science degree but was unable to find a job as a librarian. Greene moved back in with his parents and started producing songs in his bedroom studio. He began
working on projects under the name Lee Weather. Lee Weather was a lot more fast paced and guitar heavy, but similarly noisy and computerized. He also was in a dance music band in Columbia, South Carolina by the name of Bedroom.
Once he began recording under the name of Washed Out, He soon won the favor of a number of influential music bloggers after they found his music on his Myspace page. His first recordings have been described as "drowsy, distorted, dance pop-influenced tracks that brought to mind Neon Indian and Memory Tapes. Some refer to Washed Out as the poster band for the genre "Chillwave". He has said hip hop influences the way he writes songs.
The first two Washed Out EPs, Life Of Leisure and The High Times EP, were released in August and September 2009, getting tons of buzz from music blogs everywhere on the internet. In 2011, Washed Out released the first LP, Within And Without ,an album with singles like "Amor Fati" and "Eyes Be Closed. Later that year "Feel It All Around" was chosen to be the opening theme for the IFC series Portlandia, opening up Washed Out to a new large crowd. In 2013, Greene released his second LP, Paracosm. Once again getting rave reviews. The single "All I Know" was featured at #32 on Rolling Stone's year end list for best songs of the year.

I am so excited to see these guys on the farm, with the spirit and the atmosphere that they bring to a show. I saw them in Charleston, SC in November and it was such a great show. I hope they get a late Thursday night slot, that would be an incredible end to the first night.
I had never listened to washed out until they were confirmed for roo, maybe just from the roo clue? I've really fallen in love with them. His voice is just so soothing
