This is just awesome! I will probably be on the question asking end of this thread in a couple months after we finalize our route through Canada to Alaska. The only thing we know for sure at the moment is we will be taking a couple day rest in Edmonton, since it's kinda the halfway point for us. Beyond that, I got nothin'.

P.S. I also hope you had a wonderful day.
no shit! I lived in Edmonton for 3 years before I moved further north. It's about 4 hours south, of me, and I make many trips down there on my days off for supplies. I'll be able to tell you a lot about the city and surrounding area. And thank you, hope you had a great day too, eh.

Correction: why do you voluntarily live so far north in Canada?
Because that's where the oil money is. Boner needs to get PAID!
this is correct. I do live in Fort McMurray, I choose to live here (temporarily) because I needs to get PAID! For those who are unfamiliar, Fort McMurray is basically. Canada's largest boom town, and the boom has been going on for 30 years, A place where the cost of living is high, but wages are even higher. A place where the majority of the population consists of people from the East coast because there was simply no work back home. It's a bubble up here. You come to make your money, pay off your depts, save, and GTFO!

I was out there for a bit a few years back (camp life though in Ft McKay), and loved it (well the money, anyway). I could make 3-4 times what I could get paid back when I was living in New Brunswick. I was on a 3-1 week turnaround, but would stay for 2 months at a time some times, just to make that extra bank.
Crazy town though.
If I lost my current job, I would likely try to do Ft Mac again.

when I lived in Edmonton, the company I worked with got a few jobs up here, and we'd stay in the camps up here. I didn't mind it that much. But could never do it long term, like maybe a year or so. I'm on a 20-10 schedule (going 14-7 soon). Where in NB are you from? I think you told me once but can't remember for sure. I'm from The New Glasgow area in N.S originally.

Actually from just outside Toronto originally. I moved to Fredericton for university and ended up staying in NB for 12 years, lol. We just moved back here 3 years ago. I love the Maritimes, and miss a lot of things about it, and always refer to it as "home", when talking to people here.

Where outside Toronto? I find myself saying that, when I'm actually about an hour and a half north east.
And Canadians do rule Bonnaroo. The road trip is so fun. There's an incredible rush when you see another Ontario plate somewhere in Kentucky.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

hour and a half north east.....ha, same place perhaps?
Peterborough.
I always found it easier explaining to people that it was Toronto area. Although, now that I live in Toronto, I would never consider Peterborough to be even close to being in the GTA.
For real tho-do you get offended when people call you hosers? I remember people calling the French Candians "Frogs". My uncle married a "frog" and she HATED being called that.

First, sorry! I totally ripped the idea, I've credited you in the OP.
Second, hoser is just like saying dummy. It's not offensive
And finally, the French Canadians are pretty sensitive about being called "frogs". It's about as offensive a word you can use to call them.
Can you recommend any good bars in Toronto? I'm going to be spending a week in town next month. Also are you the one who brought that delicious maple syrup whiskey? I need to bring some home with me.
I brought Maple syrup, for the intent of drinking with whiskey. Lol. The maple whiskey is good too tho. onion can direct you to the better bars in Toronto. I've only been once. I'm more of a Montreal guy myself.

That's because it reminds them they're French; who wants that?

Maybe I just drank maple syrup and whiskey separate. Sometimes brunch memories can be a bit foggy lol. Who knows what I drink at brunch.
