I gave RTJ2 another chance last week and it's all I've listened to the last few days - great album! It would definitely bump up to number one or two if I had to revote for October. I didn't groove right to it the first time I tried it.
It is not as extreme as with Death Grips [see the random thoughts thread from last week, I know you saw it], but I think Ariel Pink is the same "either you 'get' it or you don't" boat.
I think the instrumentation is cool, but the stuff he is singing about is down right ridiculous
It sounds like Depeche Mode, They Might Be Giants and The National had an 80's party jam session

Pom Pom gave me so many good laughs, especially the back-to-back tracks Sexual Athletics and Jell-O. TVOTR has been my most listened to album this month. I haven't voted here in awhile but I'll probably end up voting for Seeds this month.
In regards to the Album of the Year tournament (give it like 6 weeks)
If the tournament were to start now, you'd see:
1 seed: Swans, Caribou, War on Drugs, Ty Segall 2 seed: Spoon, Future Islands, Sun Kill Moon, Aphex Twin 3 seed: Run The Jewels, Strand of Oaks, Warpaint, Cloud Nothings 4 seed: St Vincent, Todd Terje, Sylvan Esso, Damien Jurado
5 seed: Parquet Courts, Goat, Flying Lotus, How To Dress Well 6 seed: DJ Dodger Stadium, Jungle, Ryan Adams, Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks 7 seed: Shabazz Palaces, Perfume Genius, Thom Yorke, Angel Olsen 8 seed: Mac Demarco, FKA Twigs, Pallbearer, The Antlers

Not sure how Beck got left off of this... Guess I should pay more attention to this thread so atrocities like these don't happen
Methodology: I counted all albums which got three or more votes from every month this year. I then took the number of votes that album got and divided it by the number of votes cast in that entire month.
Idea 1: I will probably take any album which got a tenth of the votes cast in their month and put it into the tournament. Currently there are 31, and I would have a play-in round to account for any November and December albums which make the cut. The ones just above the 1/10th of that month mark will end up in the play-in round.
Idea 2: Any album with four or more votes gets into the tournament. Currently there are 31, and I would have a play-in round to account for Nov/Dec. Suppose there are 38 albums at the end of the year with four or more, then albums 27-38 with the most overall votes would end up in the play-in round. The winners of the play-in round would then face the top six albums in the Round of 32.

Make the deadline for December sooner than the first Tuesday in January and just include November and December winners normally. Also, don't be afraid to give out first round byes to like, the albums that received the greatest proportion of votes. We can run a bracket with literally any number of entrants.
Been a huge fan of both for the longest time I presume?
I just think its silly that the president of the Grouplove Love Group is trying to tell everyone that their opinions on two acclaimed albums is wrong, that's all.
Finally got around to listening to Seeds. Fucking awesome album! Not sure why anyone is hating on this except maybe it has more pop influence than their other albums.

so far Mark Mcguire would have my vote, but I think its an EP. Clark and Bryan Ferry are vying for the honor as of now. Liked TVOTR ok.. its about middle of the pack for their disco, and will probably end up there for this month (for me) as well.

Does anything tend to get released the week before/after Christmas?

I think the album as a whole plateaus. It builds up a decent amount of interest and energy, but never takes it to the next level. Towards the back half of the LP, all the songs sound homogeneous.

I'm lovin' on Seeds pretty hard too. it's so nice to hear tunde's voice again on some new stuff!

I mean at least I can own up to enjoying shit music instead of Twenty-One Pilot, dodging it. But you're absolutely justified in your opinion though considering you listen to "acclaimed albums" exclusively.
Also just curious, how many people have you called a faggot on twitter today? Dropped the N word by chance or have you "grown out" of that now?

You should just probably disappear for three months agai
Edit: There is so much stupidity in this post it's incredible
Yes. We know that Swans are good. Any doubt is erased when you experience their onslaught live.
So liberating to stop pretending!
By onslaught you mean complete and utter trash, yes?
If that's your opinion, so be it. Swans occupy a very extreme area in music, they're most definitely not for everyone. For me, they put on one of the best shows I've seen all year.
Have you seen them live? You should give them a chance if not. Pretty sure there is a tour stop in Dallas this upcoming tour.
And hey, if you don't like it, you can always sit back and laugh at all the people pretending to like it.
