That Objekt is actually really good. And I need to give Gorgon City more listens before I vote. As to why no love for FlyLo - it's because Rory is a piece of walking shit served through a straw of human Ebola - I thought we all knew that from the Free Capp Dogg thread.
1. Caribou - One Love 2. Weezer - Everything Will Be Alright in The End 3. Taylor Swift - 1989
I have to disagree with a previous poster... I think it's been a very weak month of music after several consecutive outstanding months. Caribou has an outstanding album, but I still don't think it'd even make my Top 25 list at the end of the year. On the flip-side, Weezer and TSwift produced some decent albums in their respective genres of music. Caribou definitely is, by far, my pick of the month, though. November is looking great so that is the optimistic end to my post. 8-)
1. Caribou 2. Gorgon City 3. Objekt 4. The 2 Bears 5. Taylor Swift
Why no love for FlyLo?
Also that Objekt is really good.
The new Flying Lotus is good, but it's being overrated. It's not nearly as good as UTQC, which wasn't as good as Cosmogramma, which wasn't as good as Los Angeles. This is a banner year for Next Album Syndrome.

Thanks for laying this out for everyone. Although, I will add that Cosmogramma is his definitive statement, even though I personally like Los Angeles better.

I agree with you re: Cosmogramma. That's the album where "Flying Lotus" as a concept really came into its own. I think Los Angeles is superior, but you're right in that Cosmogramma is a bigger statement.

I think You're Dead is his best work yet, followed by Los Angeles, then Cosmogramma, then UTQC, then 1983
Before I vote, I'm going to take a second to rant. All of this Run the Jewels backlash is way out of line. Here we have a group that came and saved the year in hip-hop, and all you people can do is complain that El-P doesn't rap as well as Killer Mike, which completely missing the point of these two combining their powers to form this duo. And, on what planet does the last three songs on the album not fucking rule? You people are so high on your own asses that you don't deserve good music. If there a criticism to be made about RTJ2, it's that Boots (featured and co-produced) track "Early" is a little clunky and doesn't connect as well as the rest of the album, but it would stand well on it's own. The world needs RTJ2 and it deserves every ounce of praise it gets. Rant over.
My vote:
HM: Blut Aus Nord is some of the best Black Metal to come out the last couple years. Ex-Hex is the best power pop to come out in years.

I have zero complaints about El-P's MCing, because I actually tend to think he's just fine. My criticisms of RTJ2 have nothing to do with El-P, and everything to do with the fact that I find it repetitive and somewhat exhausting in that it doesn't do anything that Run The Jewels didn't already do, especially where RTJ was already heavily reminscent of both Cancer 4 Cure and R.A.P. Music, both of which I thought were actually better albums. I don't know that it's "saved" the year in hip hop, because this year has been so terrifically horrible for rap music that even one transcendent release probably wouldn't do the trick. Overall I just expected more.

A great album not being greater is not exactly a bad problem in the grand scheme of things. It's just nice to have, like you said, a transcendent record for everybody to enjoy.

Well, my point is that it's not a "great" album in my opinion, and certainly not a transcendent one.

I think LA is a more enjoyable listen. For some reason I rarely listen to Cosmo, but yea it's when his sound fully fleshed out. I could never get into UTQC. Still think YD is his 2nd best overall though. Maybe 3rd once the novelty wears off.
It's really a toss up between this and Vince Staples. Choose to go with this cause I feel like I'll be listening for allot longer then Hell Can Wait. Also, Hands Up just might be the best rap song of the year.
HM: Hell Can Wait - Vince Staples Flatland - Objekt Our Love - Caribou
I had it 4th. It's really actually good though. "Shake It Off" is a clear outlier on the album, sounds nothing like the rest, which is much more airy and sparse. Sounds like a more polished and energetic Lorde, in a lot of ways. It's a good thing.
