Did you guys know that "fuckboy" draws it's origins from prison slang, where it was used as a derogatory term directed towards those on the "receiving" end of male-male intercourse? Essentially, it draws upon the notion that those who participate in such activities are inherently shameful and therefore worthy of your disrespect.
This is correct. It is now commonly considered both a homosexual and transgender slur. Now someone please start a thread called "Slur Or Not? I Need a World View"

IX by ...And you Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead was released in Europe and became available on Spotify on October 21. It is not being released domestically until November. So, should we treat this as an October or November release?
Woops, not trying to step on toes. First time venturing into this thread in months. My list was hardly as complete, just grabbed the things that caught my eye.
Is Grouper on anyone else's short list? I've got it down to three for this month. I'm almost certain it won't be Grouper but I just feel sorta bad not talking about it. Probably my favourite ambient release of the year. Thought it was better than the A Winged Victory for the Sullen and Fennesz releases which are the only other two that are coming to mind.

Grouper is on my short list, absolutely. It is neck and neck with AWVFTS for third place at this point, with the weekend to decide things.

TOTALLY kidding, George.
You mean totally kidding so long as it doesn't happen again.
Gdi I just thought fuckboy was synonymous with calling someone a pussy
Well in some ways, it is. It's using a term coined to refer to someone who engages in homosexual intercourse to infer weakness. Insofar as the calling someone a "pussy" uses a woman's body part as a euphemism for "weak," it's similar. Calling someone a "fuckboy" infers that they are in fact, a "pussy" and should be the subject of derision because they engage in homosexual acts.

Wait, so is calling someone a pussy taboo too
I'd say that's up to each person's own instincts and morals. For me personally, I feel like the way we casually use insults which are derived from femininity and/or a perceived lack of masculinity is troublesome. Calling someone a pussy, or girly, or something similar is assigning a negative trait to something associated with women. It's a subtle way of reinforcing the societal idea that women aren't as valued as men. To me, it's no different that using "gay" as an insult. So I try and stay away from it, whenever possible.

November
OK, I thought so. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the help.

I think RTJ2 is fantastic, but I agree with the "Love Again" hate. I have a feeling it will bother me less with future listens though in the same way that many of the lyrics on Yeezus have become less cringe-worthy and more funny to me with time.
1A. Caribou 1B. Flying Lotus 3. Grouper 4. Ex Hex 5. Run the Jewels
Really deep month. I feel as though Scott Walker & Sunn O))) or Pharmakon could be in my own top 25. More of a comment on the year though, sort of a dud so far compared to the last 2 or 3.
Fuck, I was expecting I would be voting for something else, but here is my vote:
I do think this has been the best month this year for music, so here are my HM: 2) Caribou 3) Pharmakon 4) Objekt 5) ...and you will know us by the Trail of Dead

Ill go with this as well. Aside from 3 songs towards the end its pretty well put together. Although I like Burnt Offering as a whole, this is some refreshing hip-hop to hear.
2. The Budos Band - Burnt Offering 3. Flylo - You're Dead 4. Caribou - Our Love
1. Caribou 2. Gorgon City 3. Objekt 4. The 2 Bears 5. Taylor Swift
Why no love for FlyLo?
Also that Objekt is really good.
That Objekt is actually really good. And I need to give Gorgon City more listens before I vote. As to why no love for FlyLo - it's because Rory is a piece of walking shit served through a straw of human Ebola - I thought we all knew that from the Free Capp Dogg thread.
1. Caribou - One Love 2. Weezer - Everything Will Be Alright in The End 3. Taylor Swift - 1989
I have to disagree with a previous poster... I think it's been a very weak month of music after several consecutive outstanding months. Caribou has an outstanding album, but I still don't think it'd even make my Top 25 list at the end of the year. On the flip-side, Weezer and TSwift produced some decent albums in their respective genres of music. Caribou definitely is, by far, my pick of the month, though. November is looking great so that is the optimistic end to my post.

I agree that Objekt is good. But, whereas this month's Caribou is full of warmth and feeling, and last month's Aphex Twin is booming with personality, it comes across as very sterile.
