Last month, I really, really liked Wovenhand, but I can't stand the Good Shepard. I think it bogs the album down. Ought was a breath of fresh air. It was a great surprise when I heard the whole album because when I heard the first single and thought they were little gimmicky with David Byrne aping and all. This may sound weird and it's obviously a different style of music, but they kind of remind me of Slint in a way. The Cloud Nothings record was really good, but didn't have the staying power of their last one for me. Todd Terje can be the greatest thing when I'm in the right mood. I still haven't listened to Timber Timbre.
i am heartbroken that you didnt bother to mention Thee Oh Sees.
Wow. I finally listened to 'It's Album Time' - wouldn't have changed my vote but it's a close second for last month. I didn't know it was like that... I was expecting something more poppy, definitely not so groovy.

I thought i knew you, man.
I just figured it was obvious to everyone that I listen the f*ck out of Thee Oh Sees. Drop has been in rotation more than anything else. But Thee Oh Sees are not in the business of making flawless AOTM records. They are just out there to kick @ss.
It's also why I wasn't thrilled about voting this month. I couldn't decide between Thee Oh Sees, Wooden hand, and Woods.

Ok, just making sure. My faith in humanity has been restored.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
Agreed. That album is fucking massive and it just sounds so downright filthy awesome. They make it seem like other musicians aren't even trying.
I like the cut of your jib.
I aim to please. But seriously how many bands would have the balls to come out with back-to-back double albums, both over two hours long, both really fucking good, within a 2 year time period. Swans are like fuck brevity.
Lykke Li - I Never Learn The Horrors - Luminous Little Dragon - Nabuma Rubberband Swans - To Be Kind The Black Keys - Turn Blue Sharon Van Etten - Are We There Tune-Yards - Nikki Nack Chromeo - White Women
Bring the Sun/Toussaint L'Ouverture speaks to my id. That song could bring out the primate in anyone. To Be Kind is not as good as The Seer, but best I've heard so far this month.
Lykke Li, Tune-Yards, Chromeo and Connor Oberst (who I usually am not a huge fan of, but find this album surprisingly good) are my favorites so far this month. Still enjoying Todd Terje as well.
