So, in keeping with the "we're the most inconsistent team ever" mantra, the Rangers will go out and thump the Sabres tonight after fumbling away a tie game earlier this week against the Jets.
I really want to kick James Dolan in the teeth for sending the team on that 9-game road trip on the west coast to start the year so he could build a f*cking bridge in MSG. I imagine the team would have found its stride by now had it not been for that.
I'm hoping that Boychuk wasn't seriously hurt here. Though being carted off like that, it's worrisome.
I only caught the 3rd on the radio and got home and missed the highlights. Not sure what happened. Habs out hot the Bruins tonight. Usually it's one of our guys being wheeled off the ice when we play the bruins.

Thats because Canadian Bones are not actually bone. They are made of ice, making you fragile when you travel south of your frozen wasteland. Exhibit A is Sidney Crosby and his injury history.
Meh, I'm okay with the trade that sent Dubi out of town.
But yeah, I would club baby seals to get Prusty back.
how do you think we got him?
I consider it payback for that Gomez - Higgins, McDonough fiasco
Okay, what's fair is fair. You can have the guy who punches people in the face, I'll take the best young defensemen in the Eastern Conference (or close to it).

We already have one of those. And a couple in the works. It hurt at first, but drafting Beaulieu and Tinordi, and how Subban turned out, I can sleep at night knowing what an awful deal that was.
I def have a lot of man love for Subban. Dude's a beast.
I'm expecting an $8 million, 8 year deal to be announced before the Olympic break. If the Habs leave it too late, they'll end up paying 2 time Norris Trophy winner money instead of a 1 time winner of a shortened season money.

They better sign him to 6-8 years. He'll probably get somewhere between 7.5-8 mil

Habs fan?
And yeah. I'd love it if he took a home town discount, but I doubt it after how well he's played on the "bridge contract". He's earning every penny right now. Marc Bergiven has yet to make a bad move, and he knows how important PK is to the future of his club. Like I said, if he's not signed by the Olympic break, I'd be surprised.

Yes, I'm a huge Habs fan. I don't think the NHLPA would let him take a home town discount even if he wanted (which I don't believe he would anyway). I agree, this deal will probably get done sooner rather than later.

. Finally, a kindred spirit! Pleased to make your acquaintance.
As far as hometown discount, I wasn't thinking anything major. 7 million a year was where I was thinking. But yeah, wishful thinking for sure.
Here's an interesting stat. Since January 1st 2013, the Habs are 14-15-3 without Alexi Emilen, and 33-9-6 with him in the line up. One of the most underrated D in the league.
Shawn Thornton shouldn't be allowed to play professional hockey anymore. All events that lead to that incident don't come close to justifying coming up behind someone, hauling them down backwards, and smashing their head into the ice until they're unconscious. This isn't MMA, this is worse than the Todd Bertuzzi incident in my eyes ( yes, my bias is set aside on this one). This is an embarrassment to the game, and I hope Shanny gives him the rest of the season to reel in that temper.

I couldn't be more happy with Thornton. How many careers has Matt Cook ruined and the Pengins have endorsed him through each and every one. Shawn Thornton has seen this first hand and not going to put up with it. On another note, I know there is some bias in this (and im sure fans of other organizations see their team in this position as well) but when ever the Bruins are on the recieving end of these kind of plays its look the other way, but when they are dishing it out, its the big bad Bruins so lets call for their heads. He'll be back in 6 games. 2 minutes, well worth it.

When you have a team like the bruins, who in general, have taken a modern spin on the old time hockey, other teams are going to play you differently. They are going to hit more than they usually do, they are going to be more aggressive than they normally would. Brook Orpik is known for head hunting, but he's no Matt Cooke of old. He makes hits that you praise Lucic, Chara's, Boychuk (ect) for making. He's a tough player who got under the skin of a goon. I feel like Orpik should have fought. Regardless of whether he felt it was unnecessary, and given his opponent, unmatched, he should have took his medicine. It's not right, but it's the way it is. All that said, Thornton let his emotions get the better of him and mad a decision to assault an unknowing victim. If he turned him arroyos, shoved him THEN threw his punches, all for it. But the way he acted should not be praised under any cerci stances man. I get what you're saying, but there is no excuses for this. James Neil will likely get a few games for the knee ( got another look at it and it looked intentional, and given who the knee hit, I'm not surprised by the intent)
You say the bruins are always the Vulcan and never given the same justice when the shoe is on the other foot? I think that's a copout. The bruins get plenty of breaks aswell. The fact that Chara is not in a jail cell in Montreal serving a sentence for attempted manslaughter is an example that comes to mind..

I have to agree with Boner on this one. A play like this cant be justified by other people's previous actions or the "theyre picking on us because were the Bruins" card. Ive always liked Thornton's style of play (and Im a Leafs fan), but to sloo foot your opponent and bash his head into the ice multiple times is a gutless play that doesnt belong in the sport. I hope they give him 20 games.
I think the same can be said about the knee on Marchand's head from Neale. Another dirty move that deserves a serious suspension.
There's a line. Thornton went a bit too far across it.
Though, it's a little bit understandable some action needed to be taken. The Penguins are a bunch of b*tches.
This is hockey, when action needs to be taken, you chase a guy down, call him out, drop the gloves and punch each other in the head. And if the guy won't do that, you talk sh*t to him, face wash him and hit him into the boards until he gets fed up and does it.
You don't trip and attack someone from behind.
It was a bush league play and should not be defended at all, I don't care who it happened to. Orpik isn't a choir boy, he dances around that line of legality quite often, but there's a difference between trying to put a hurting on an opponent's best player with a big hit and trying to injure a player.
It's true, though, he was such an important piece of the team and they all loved the guy.
I think between the month-long road trip and multiple early-season injuries that the Rangers' up-and-down year should be expected.
When I was 10 years old, I suddenly decided to go against my father and not cheer for the Habs. He told me it could be anyone but the Bruins. I chose the rangers. This was halfway through the 93-94 season. After they won the cup, I forget exactly why, but I went back to cheering for the Habs. the rangers have always had a soft spot in my heart, and it's out of love that I'll be tormenting you about your teams failings. I do feel like they could easly turn it around. Nash has been playing really well lately, but maybe Henrik can't adjust to the smaller pads.... ;-)
