If you're saying you haven't seen Russo at all, you're missing out big time. He's an amazing drummer. One of my favorites.
If you're saying you haven't seen JRAD, it depends on what you're into. If, like me, you love to hear the music of the Grateful Dead reinterpreted by good musicians, they're definitely worth checking out. I also love it when basically the same musicians (with 1 or 2 changes) morph into Bustle In Your Hedgerow and reinterpret Led Zep songs.
Bustle In Your Hedgerow had the random LN appearance at Roo one year, no?
Yeah, it was pretty rad. Brittany Howard came out to sing a couple times with them, but mostly some great instrumental jamming.
Sunday somewhere around 3:30 a.m., Brittany (sp?) Howard was singing The Lemon Song with Bustle in Your Hedgerow. She sang: "You can squeeze my lemons, baby, 'til the juice runs down my leg." It's a classic blues line that goes at least back to Robert Johnson and Traveling Riverside Blues. I always associated "lemons" in the line with balls and my first thought was that Brittany doesn't have lemons. But then I realized that she did and they were fucking huge.

I got free tickets to a grateful dead cover band in PHX. It's a new venue (that is amazing) and I wanted to check it out. The band is pretty tight. Lots of old heads though. Lots of fun. A guitar mandolin duo opened and have some Garcia/grisman feels. It's true the music never stopped, there's AARP guys testing out their new hips breaking it down. Worth it.
