while some of us were at bonnaroo, John Mayer was sitting in with Phil and Friends at terrapin crossroads on 6/12/15 recreating the Cornell '77 show. his morning dew solo at the end is pretty great.
he played the next night as well, doing winterland 77. he didn't sing at all, but he did late night set in the bar later where he sings lead

I haven't listened to too much of it besides a handful of the songs they would release on youtube while building up hype. I'm very excited to finally get the chance to hear the full thing. I love the Grateful Dead and I really enjoy projects like this.
I'm only diving in now, so far so good. I'd love all these bands to incorporate these songs into their live shows and jam on them a bit more. What better way to honor The Dead than that?

I was hoping the vinyl pre-orders would be available now so I could get a download link but I have to wait until next month. May just end up getting digital now and vinyl later. Or will check to see if any of this is up on Spotify for now.

VInyl pre-orders are June 9th and are about $150 for 10 records, fairly reasonable

Yea, I saw that price and was happy. I figured it would be a bit more expensive for that many records but I'm totally fine with $150. Thanks for the tip on Spotify....will be playing this most of the weekend.
Highlights: Touch of Grey Black Muddy River Rubin and Cherise Terrapin
Weak points: Box of Rain (maybe I'm just use to it being sung way out of key but something was off) Uncle John's Band (I don't even know what to say about this one) Me and My Uncle (Lone Bellow removed all the snarl)

I really liked the Vile/Mascis Box of Rain my first time through. It's not the most interesting song in the world so I thought they managed to make it sound fresh.

It's a song I'm generally seeing on people's positive lists and I like both of them so I don't know what my issue is. Maybe I need to give it a couple more listens

I've got this coming up on Saturday:
Return to Aquarius A Day of Peace, Love & Music celebrating Woodstock 1969 Including a special set celebrating Jerry Garcia Terrapin Crossroads Backyard Saturday, August 13th: Phil Lesh, with a rotating cast of musicians, including Stanley Jordan, David Nelson, Stu Allen, Melvin Seals, Boyd Tinsley, John Molo, Barry Sless, Adam MacDougall, Grahame Lesh & Midnight North, members of San Geronimo, Ross James, Alex Koford, and other special guests, will perform a celebration of the music and spirit of Woodstock and the life and music of Jerry Garcia.
I've yet to catch Joe Russo. How badly am I missing out?
If you're saying you haven't seen Russo at all, you're missing out big time. He's an amazing drummer. One of my favorites.
If you're saying you haven't seen JRAD, it depends on what you're into. If, like me, you love to hear the music of the Grateful Dead reinterpreted by good musicians, they're definitely worth checking out. I also love it when basically the same musicians (with 1 or 2 changes) morph into Bustle In Your Hedgerow and reinterpret Led Zep songs.

Bustle In Your Hedgerow had the random LN appearance at Roo one year, no?

Post the James/Oates off the chain Super Jam...I still don't know how I remained upright thru all of Bustle but it was awesome! For me that was a great night.
