Haven't been on I-Roo in a few days. Had a roller coaster couple of weeks since Roo. Trouble with low platelets halting chemo, running into some problems with some things I am working on at home. Some spectacular things happening too. But I am at work, feeling pretty overwhelmed tonight. Mike is away at an Americanarama show I couldn't get to. Thought I'd pop in and read some shenanigans. But then I saw this.
Neither Mike nor I are very good at being in the spotlight unless it involves laughing and dancing and merry-making. I know he hates being the center of attention unless he is making someone laugh. This experience of watching a group of people who were brought together by our mutual love of music, of a festival that allows us to escape from that which weighs us down...to watch you all rally around Mike, lift him up and try to carry him to the finish line of a race with one of the ugliest monsters known to us, well, it has been stunning to say the least. (Maybe Rosko could put some semi-colons in that mess and pretty it up).
We will never be able to thank you all enough for what you all have done. For providing him with the funds needed to afford alternative therapies, to afford co-pays. For being the ones to give him some laughter in the middle of this storm. For the spirit healing that occurs when so much positive energy is concentrated into one person and one cause. Never in a million years could we come up with the right words, or the right gesture. Sometimes "thank you" is all that we have. Even when it isn't nearly enough.
A very special thank you to Bonnaroo Works for this incredibly generous donation! We are exploring options to get the most out of this for Mike. EmmyLou autographed Gibson guitar
Please keep Mike and Angie in your thoughts, prayers, cosmic will. Anything and everything positive! <3 <3 <3
Well... The PET showed no new affected areas. And the lymph nodes and tumor look better, but the cancer is still there. Conventional medicine has little more to offer, other than oral chemo that would give only 3-6 months of further suppression, plus a bunch of nasty side effects.
The cancer has been stunned, per se. We are looking deeper into alt clinics (one is in Houston, one in CA/Mexico, one in ATL) hoping these other treatments can keep it knocked down for a long time.
Much love and thanks to all for the very generous donations that have helped Mike obtain alternative treatments and fill his summer with love, music, and good friends! The 'Whoring' thread will be brought up to date later today.
Please continue to send Whoreshack and LLL all the good vibes you have!
