Can't handle my boredom at work so going to make a mock schedule. Completely hypothetical because I have no idea what time/when these artists play but it'll help pass the time...
FRIDAY:
Trombone Shorty (Chevy- 3ish)--> RDGLDGRN (Boom Boom- 430ish)---> Capital Cities (Hangout- 6ish)---> Queens of the Stone Age (Chevy- 7ish)---> Black Keys (Hangout- 9ish)
Reignwolf (Letting Go- 2ish)---> Portugal. The Man (Chevy- 330ish)---> Bastille (Hangout- 5ish)---> Jack Johnson (Chevy- 630ish)---> The Killers (Hangout- 830ish)
This will probably change significantly but this is what I'd like to pull off. I'd like to see Gambino, Chance, STS9, and the Flips but it's gonna all depend who they're up against.
Hoping for Alt-J, Band of Horses, MMJ, White Denim, GRiZ, Growlers, Heavy Pets, Stepkids, DSO, RJD2, Bear Hands. Half of these additions would make the wait until May more difficult than it already is.
Alt-J would be an amazing add, but they haven't been announced on any festivals that I know of yet this year, so it'd be a shocker if they came to Hangout.

Alt-J also lost Gwil the lead guitarist last week for unknown reasons. They're currently a 3 man unit working on their 2nd album. So yeah, they're definitely a no go for Hangout.
The real question though....Can anything they produce from here on out top An Awesome Wave?
I've found quite a few Memphis, Texas, and Nola residents that are arguing the "JazzFest has a radius clause" statement. There seems to be plenty of examples of jf artists, including headliners, playing close cities and even Nola in the days leading up to, during, and after the fest.
So, is there any evidence like a news article or something that actually mentions a clause? I mean, the radius idea seems to make sense, but so does the idea of a "mob mentality" just kinda making it up cause it sounds right. I can't seem to find anything that proves it either way.
You know, we've already done the "there's absolutely no way JJ wouldn't headline babyfest hangout" thing. I'd hate it if we were selling ourselves short again based on some Internet opinion rather than fact.
How much should a decent/average condo cost at The Hangout?
Obviously it all depends on size, location, ect.
I can say, though, that I've always been in the $200-$250 per person range. That's 4 nights in a nice condo or house, everyone gets a bed. We've always been between 12 to 19 people splitting that up, not sure what a smaller crew would be looking at.

Yeah, it's all size/location but we stayed in Orange Beach last year and booked late so it was around $885 or so for a six person condo. We're right next to the Fest this year but booked as soon as we could and it was even less than that for a six person condo. I've looked around a bit and prices seem to have gone up as it gets closer which is to be expected. Went through Meyer last year and Wyndham/Kaiser this year. People have said to check local owners etc.
1/17 Spafford 2/7 Greensky Bluegrass 3/17 Cool Cool Cool 3/28 Ekoostik Hookah 7/10 Jason Mraz 7/11 Chris Stapleton 7/12 Red Hot Chili Peppers 7/13 Buffalo Ska Fest
Smaller condos seem to be harder to find. We stayed at a hotel way to the east in 2012 and rode the shuttle, it was about 200 a night. In 2013 we stayed to the north at a hotel i think it was around 150 a night, we parked at one of the north shuttle stops and rode out bikes to the north gate. The hotel was ok but no pool and it was away from all the parties and the bike ride t night got a little dicey a few times.
This year we found a owner rental right beside the east entrance. It's working out to be $175 a night total after fees and cleaning. Prices go up the closer to the fest you get and the close in stuff gets booked out. I booked our place back in October and am happy I did once I was some of the more recent prices. Seems like if you have a group of 8-14 its easier to find a place and split up the payments, I just don't like large groups of people where I am sleeping.
My group is usually just 2 but expands to 4 or 5 when some friends come over to catch some of the bands.

Hey, bud...go to the "For Rent By Owner" site (www.frbo.com) and search using the zip code 36542. You can deal directly with the beach house or condo owner instead of a rental agency. These owners will be really interested in renting their places but, unlike the rental agencies, they're more particular about who they rent to. If you can convince them your group is a mature bunch who won't destroy their place, you can get a great deal. If you want to save even more, search for a place on the lagoon side instead of the beach side. Some friends of mine snagged a great spot with a dock on the lagoon, a mile from the Hangout's front gates just last week.

My 1 BR condo (with a sleeper sofa, so it technically sleeps 4) is $265 a night. I think that's pretty steep, but the location is about as perfect as you can get (Island Winds West).

We have a group of 6 staying in Southern Sands, stayed there last year also, love being near the gate, I believe we are paying near $250 per person staying Thursday-Tuesday
i am checking in on Thursday and out on Sunday. I might have to taxi it back to the gate on Sunday.
Like I said book early and save. I knew I was going this year before the end of last years fest, set myself up with alumni tickets on Sunday (savings) and booked a place to stay back in October with a deposit. We aren't the normal college kids (in our 30s) so that helps
We got half of a duplex for an entire week for 11 of us at 200 a person. Has its own swimming pool, deck, garage and whatnot, 2 miles away but we're young and stupid and will be tipsy enough to rough it each morning. My first two years we did the state park and had the luxury of bringing a large popup camper the second year and easily fit 8 people in our site. That was extremely cheap for the 8 of us and we bought shuttles and ended up getting the surprise bump to VIP for Sunday. The cool thing about the state park is it kind of gives you a very very small taste of a Bonnaroo-esque festival feel. Then again, this is a completely different fest with completely different vibes so to each their own. But, with our experience this year the houses are going fast so the sooner the better. Find the owner's number and contact them first, rental agencies are just a bump in the road to getting a down deposit on a place.

Over 30 as well. This will be my 4th Hangout, so we got the jump on tickets with the Sunday sale. The condo has been reserved since we left the Tuesday after the fest.
We were terribly unprepared for 2011... we made preparations in April and paid way more than we should have. Now, we know what we're doing.
