After breaking his collarbone and having his throwing arm in a brace for 5 weeks, Duke QB Anthony Boone returned to throw 31/38 for 295 yds. a 3 tds. Good to have him back. They only dropped one game that I thought they would win while he was gone so a good season is still well within reach. Probably not going to be able to win at Va Tech and Miami will crush them at home, but every other game is very winnable.
Clemson defense leads the nation in tackles for loss and sacks. Vic Beasley leads in sacks. our defense hasn't given up more than 14 pts since the UGA game. I love that we are winning with defense. it has been so long.
Clemson needs to step its game up, if it wants to beat Florida State. The game yesterday against Boston College shouldn't have been that close.
The offense made lots of mistakes in the 1st half. Out of character things like fumbling twice and missing 2 fgs. We don't do those things. They were probably looking ahead to FSU like everyone else. Or it was just one of those days that every team has. Things don't go your way all the time. They still managed to take control of the game and win comfortably (we could have added a td at the end but we sat on it). Our defense has been playing great all year. The offense is great, but has times where it gets out of rhythm. We're still scoring over 40 ppg. I feel good about this game because it's at home. We have a huge advantage at home, our crowd definitely effects the game. Night game, Game Day, 2 top 5 ranked teams, FSU, it's going to be insanity. Tajh, Sammy, our defense, Vic Beasley. I'm feeling really good. FSU is a great team and it will be a great game. Jameis hasn't played in that kind of atmosphere yet or against that kind of defensive pressure. If he can handle all that and perform I will bow down to the kid. I don't think he can do it.
P.S.- Other reasons I feel good about our team. We don't commit many penalties. We don't turn the ball over much. We have a great kicking game. These are things that have helped us out a lot.

I will give you that your defense is much improved this season, and that it is an ingredient that has been missing from your team in recent years which may just be what propels them to an NC title game. I would pump the brakes a little bit on the PPG allowed aspect of the last 5 games. You played an FCS team and teams that rank 91st, 106th, 53rd and 87th in PPG right now. FSU ranks #3 right now, but Clemson is definitely the best defense they have faced so far, and like you said, Winston has not played in a hostile environment like Death Valley so far. As much as people remarked on the intensity of Death Valley for the Georgia game, I think the FSU game will be louder since it is a rivalry game and will likely determine who wins the ACC and potentially who goes to the NC game.

BC scored 34 against FSU. only 14 against us. They have the leading rusher in the nation and we held him to 70 yds. Not saying we're going to hold FSU down, they're going to score. It's going to be very similar to the UGA game, I think. Both teams have great defenses, but they also have great offenses. I think there will be plenty of points scored but the defense that makes the big stops will win. Also the crowd is going to be a big factor, you're right this is going to be even more insane than the UGA game.
With Missouri turning out to be legit and Auburn turning out to be solid, it's difficult to count on Tennessee winning more than two of their remaining games (if even that many). Barring a decent upset, that puts them at 5-7 on the season, and means yet another failure to make a bowl game. Would love to knock off somebody. Hopefully Butch can hold on to this recruiting class.

Agreed. The only saving grace is that Franklin is out for Missouri for 4-6 weeks, i think, and he is the biggest part of their offense.

Its hard to know how good Auburn is. I feel like they cracked the polls because no one can really tell the difference between teams 20-40 and they have gotten off to a good start and have a decent win (Ole Miss). They'll get the benefit of the doubt at this point in the season because of the conference they're in. I would settle down on that beating Bama talk, though.
Also, Auburn could really go either way since they were f*cking atrocious last year, but they have a new coach and hopefully someone who understands what a QB is.
Malzahn appears to be for real, and Marshall is turning into a capable starter. As sh*tty as Auburn was last year, they had the #10 recruiting class in 2012 and #8 in 2013, so there was still talent on the team.
2 in the top 5 and 3 in the top 10. BOW DOWN TO THE ALMIGHTY ACC!!
In all seriousness, Saturday nights game is one of the biggest in ACC history (at least regular season), as far back as I can remember.
Is it a forgone conclusion Miami is gonna win the Coastal? Miami could spoil the party for the whole conference.
I think most people around here believe Miami is the best team in the Coastal, but other than Florida, who has their own issues, they haven't played anybody worth mentioning so we don't know exactly how good they are. Va Tech may have the best defense in the country so they can hang with anyone, but their offense is so bad they can conceivably lose to anyone, as well. If Miami runs the table I don't think it would spoil the party. If they drop the FSU and/or the VT game and then beat an unbeaten Clemson or FSU in the title game, that would obviously ruin any chances of a National Title game appearance for the ACC. Va Tech has the easier remaining schedule and their only loss is to Bama, so their upcoming matchup with Miami in a few weeks may decide the Coastal. Lots of football to be played, though, so playing out all these scenarios may prove pointless.
The official rendering for the Bristol UT-VT game. The big spaces in the infield have me curious.
The cool thing would be having the race at Bristol going on DURING the game. Have opening kickoff AND the green flag drop at the same time. Think crowds make lots of noise? Add 43 high performance engines....

What number do you wear? I'd like to keep an eye out for you when I'm watching.

In other news, Tennessee's band director publicly called out the athletic department last week for minimizing the marching band's role in gameday. Today, he was put on administrative leave for the remainder of the semester.
