Yeah, that's what I propose. Foxtrot actually said he had some graphic design experience; I thought maybe we'd ask him to work up the lettering. It'd be nice to kinda have a group conscience about what the letters should be, how they should be laid out, etc....so make suggestions and we'll get a design together one way or another in the next week or so.
I'll just do 'em and distribute them to board members at cost. I might vend the extras unless someone objects.
No biggie. Let the inspiration flow.
I will be giving away stickers again this year. I've already got my sticker designed, I think. Roughly it will be: [glow=red,2,300]DAVE DEAD TREY ROO3[/glow]

Hootdaddy-
I run a Publishing company and have some experience in graphic design. I'll play around with the lettering and forward on anything cool. BTW - I have no issue with you vending the rest.
On another note: I checked out one site for ballons and their price was $80.00 for 100 ballons, orange with black text. Of course, there would be other companies to compare prices with if we decided to do this. I have no idea of how many we'd want to buy though.
My boyfriend and I are planning on getting there early early Thursday so meeting that day will for us.
I was thinking about buying a couple walkie talkies for the times that maybe my boyfriend and I couldn't find eachother. Do you guys think this is a good idea?

I'm thinkin that whoever wants to do the balloon thing can probably just invest in plain orange ballons from Wal-Mart and a few Sharpies...
LMJ, any design ideas would be great. I'm happy to have some collaboration from anyone. Ultimately I guess I'll just pick pick one, unless we can figure a way to vote for one or another.
No big whup. I just want to get them rolling; it'd be nice to get the order to the company here in May and get them back in time for shipping to those what wants one.
Oh, almost forgot...LMJ, the walkie talkie thing is damn near impossible, I think. There is SO much traffic on the damn things you have a hard time hooking up, I understand. But maybe others have had better luck...

I'll be good for a shirt or two. Let me know! Tried out a simple design (which hopefully is to the left of here...). I'd suggest just easy to read large dark letters on a light colored t-shirt. Something easy to look for while you do a quick scan of 80,000+ people... Probably make a sign for our campsite too since I won't want wear the same shirt 3 days runnin'...
LMJ... last year they set up a completely seperate cell tower for the week, just for the show. I guess there was soo much traffic the first year they had to devote a tower just to the venue. (Now that's organization for some hippies in the middle of nowhere.) I know my friends and I had no problems using those at any time.
How about Pineapple baloons with the RUN4ROO? Just a thought as well?
"We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box."
Love the girly shirt idea -- esp if it's a tank top (dig the "few clothes as possible" sentiment; it's darn hot in TN in the summer).
Regarding the walkie talkies ... we had no luck with ours last year. Yep, we had sporadic cell service for our phones, but so many people had walkie talkies that the channels were packed and we could never hear each other. Ours weren't top of the line, but they probably cost about $150 for a pair. If anyone had better luck than me, I'm interested to hear ... our group's bigger than last year, and it sure would make locating each other easier.
Blaze all day, every day, each way the right way, my way green hay we high, been there, done that, big blunts fat sacks, hit it fast make it last, first class WE BLAZZE

You are a genius! That would save so much money.
I would be willing to put that time required into the ballons. I was thinking that we could have a list that people put their names on for ballons that would have their usernames on it. It could be either on the same ballon as the RU N4 ROO thing or on a seperate one.
Guys, let me know what other ideas you might have. It of course will be a while before I begin this project.

Carry on.
Hootdaddy, For sure, we'll have to one pick one. It would be cool to be able to vote, but I have no idea how that would work.
I am curious to find out some coordination details from you and if you don't mind, I'd like to e-mail you in the next couple of days about them.

I hear ya, I sure as hell wouldn't want to wear a shirt for three straight days.

thomaroo,
Thanks for the suggestion - you too, hootdaddy. I think that we'll buy some just in case it does work. I am the type of person who wants to be over prepared rather than under.
In response to the pineapple ballons - I'll check it out, see what I can find. My only worry would be not being able to see the lettering.

I think I've worked out a deal with a local balloon vendor in chattanooga to come up with mylar balloons. One possibility for RUN4ROO is that we could get mylar letters and numbers that could be filled with helium and run aloft. They run about $9/letter filled with helium. I'll check to see if there are any question marks. Maybe the easiest way would be a big ? or an R and a U? What would people be willing to pay for custom displays to mark their tent? This isn't something I want to get bogged down in the working aspect of, but I'd be willing to make it fly on Thursday!! Last year I brought a big tank of helium and got somewhat overwhelmed by people who were convinced I had NO2! Even though my tanks were orange. People still wanted to buy convinced I had nitrous. It got to be a pain. Blue tanks are for hippie crack, orange is for making things lighter than air!!

CHECK IT OUT!!!!
I took the T-shirt idea and Jambandjohn's logo and ran with it. I set up a shop at CafePress (can't remember whose suggestion that was - Thanks!) with a bunch of different T-shirt styles with Jambandjohn's logo, stylized a bit by yours truly. FYI - The prices are CafePress's base prices without a mark-up so I'm not making any money - just smiles! See you all at Roo! Here's the link: www.cafeshops.com/shopeartha
Hey, Don't get me wrong, I'm not complainin or anything like that.. just wondering.. what happened to voting on ideas and orange shirts that stand out. all that???? Just curious

Whoa! Didn't mean to put anyone out. This was just quick and easy, so I did it. Enjoy 'em, or make you're own. There's no rule that there can't be a plethora of Inforoo shirts, is there? The more the merry, I say. BTW, I also made hats, stickers, a frisbee, and baby and kid sizes available. Eartha

Did you have any trouble gettin the helium in last year? I've heard that nitrous tanks are one of the only things that the 'Roo authorities are really concerned about catching...

why? do you know someone who will fill an orange tank with blue gas? I don't want to condemn anyone's use of recreationals cos frankly, I think it is human nature to alter one's consciousness, but I hate hippie crack. It makes people fall down, and kills way too many brain cells, and can kill ya dead if you're not careful!

Before I say anything, please, let me make a few things clear. I am NOT trying to make this a big deal or wanting to sound b!tchy and therefore, do not expect any replies to this. This is not about the t-shirts and who did or didn’t get the t-shirts made. This is about feeling disregarded as a member of these boards.
I think what happened was completely disrespectful to Hootdaddy, Foxtrot, I, and everyone else on these boards – no matter what the intentions were. If it was known (and it was) that we were trying to put something together as a group why wasn’t the idea and design presented to us?
I believe as members of these boards, we must be responsible in maintaining a sense of community. An action like this does not help in fulfilling that duty.
