So should I not post anything that is already on the interwebs?
I think this thread works better if we talk about albums we're listening to that have crappy covers. That Small Black album in the OP is one of my favorites of the year, and the cover is terrible.

OK Captain Killjoy. It's not like you are reposting these in other threads or anything...
Some of my earliest music memories are of my mom playing John Denver albums, and we used to listen to him every Friday afternoon as a tradition for quite a while. I bought her this when it came out, but that cover.. ouch.

If you're a fan of me, you're a fan of your motherquackin' self.

I was a huge JD fan as well. And except for MMJ's cover of Leaving on a Jet Plane, that thing stunk as bad as the cover. What did your Mom think of it?
I'm finding this one as soon as I get home from work.
The album or that Phono-keytar thing?
album because of that cover art. nvmd though. just previewed a song on youtube. it's pretty bad. how is this band so popular and I've never heard of them?

Who said they are popular? And I'm dressing my three cats up like that cover.
Both, I think he and it are great. I understand the idea is to subvert our conventional ideas about Bowie and his music - I'm just not sure that album art really captures that notion. It's a great comeback album that I feel is a natural progression of his music rather than something that would turn it on it's head, IMO of course.
To further clarify - when I first saw it, I thought the concept that he was trying to get across is 'forget the past', and I don't think that's what he meant.

They have a ton of fb likes & youtube views and they are touring all over the globe this year. Both of my cats hate it when I try to make them wear stuff. I need a fat lazy cat that will let me put costumes on him/her.

She enjoys it. I don't think she'll listen to it very often, but she seemed to like it for the most part, with a few exceptions -- yup, MMJ was one, along with Mary Chapin Carpenter and more that were too mellow/sleepy for her taste.
I had no idea Gogol Bordello even made albums. I can't even imagine hardcore fans just sitting around listening to them in their apartment or something.

"The very cool SAVAGES has allowed a very uncool typographical blunder on its LP cover: Helvetica Narrow (weight loss is the worst thing that can happen to an iconic font, aka iOS 6). Also can we talk about the weird italics (unnecessary affectation, and very un-British), cramped leading (totally unforgivable) and unnecessary line break? Who the Fraggle designed this?" -- Sufjan Stevens, huge typography nerd, taking Savages to task. (via Tumblr)
lol I know all of these dudes and can assure you that this cover is purposefully shitty. Guy on the far left, Benny, is a very good friend of mine. He's in at least 4 other bands.
