I'm not sure where to put this, so I suppose this is the appropriate section.
I'm trying to categorize my spotify into folders by genre and then I realized that I don't know much about these categories. People have been arguing a lot recently about what "Indie Rock" means or if it's a reasonable/specific category at all.
Right now I have Hip Hop, Indie Rock, Classic Rock, Alternative, and Techno/Electronica. I'm trying to keep it simple, but I'm curious if y'all think I'm missing something. Or if I should break down Indie Rock into something else, what should it be?
Also, I know I'm missing some genres altogether like Bluegrass, but I'm still get there in my album compilation.
This is exactly why I refuse to participate into categorization (That's a word?) by genre. It just gets too confusing. I am protesting against the labeling of genres.

It's really all personal preference. "Indie" is a very broad term, but for me that classification is enough for me. I wouldn't want to go too nuts classifying music because it would drive my OCD mind crazy. But again, that's just me, it really depends how specific you want your collection to be.
