I've been thinking about bringing a small folding step-stool with me so I can use it to stand on to actually be able to see the bands when I'm in a crowd. I'm 5 feet tall and it really sucks when you want to actually see the show.
I've had a few nice people in front of me at shows that have stood where I can see between them, but inevitably, some tall summers breeze in a sac comes pushing through the crowd and stands directly in front of me.
I figure if I have a stool, I can see what's going on when I want to stare at the stage, then fold it up when I want to dance. The one I have is about 6", so I think it'd make me about the size of a normal person. I wonder, though, if it would upset people... or if they'd even let me bring it in.
5/3 - Black Keys with Flaming Lips
6/13-16 - Bonnaroo
7/12 - Harry Connick Jr.
7/13 - Last Summer on Earth (Ben Folds Five, Guster, Barenaked Ladies)
8/2 - Lollapalooza
9/6 - Muse with Cage the Elephant
9/22 - fun. w/ Tegan and Sara

I think it's a good idea. I've suggested it to my height-challenged gf but she always just rolls her eyes at me. As long as you aren't giving yourself a ridiculous height advantage I don't see the harm.

Great idea! I wish I had this a few years ago when of Montreal played roo. Even moved to the back and still couldn't see anything. It was just a sea of tall people
If I might offer some advice here, maybe try to stand directly in front of the soundboard when you use it? It seems like if you grab a bad spot you might continually get knocked off. If you're in front of the soundboard with your elbow on the rail no one will mess with you.

That's the kind I have
Love the soundboard idea! I've always thought being near the soundboard is the best spot to be anyway

I keep this one in my backpack for my wife at festivals.
And honestly, I wouldnt worry about blocking anyone's view. If its only 6" you will be fine... Its not like its going to suddenly make you taller than every guy around you.
My wife stands on her's directly in front of me... Im 6'4" and she's 5'5" so she is still shorter than me. If anyone complains, tell them to buy their own for next year!
And I dont think you'll have an issue with people knocking you off (unless youre trying to get hella close). Theyre pretty sturdy.
They also make a great little table for inbetween shows or when youre just chilling on a blanket in the back.
I dont know why more short-folk dont have these. My friend actually brings a stool that doesnt even fold down flat, in his backpack for his fiance. It looks like he's got a basketball in his backpack. Mine folds down to about the size of a smallish laptop.

During Eminem that one year, there were randomly two brown metal folding chairs right in front of me. There was this real short girl, like 4'11'', who stood on it the whole show. I stepped up one time to check the view and it was so cool. Just a sea of people.
