Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Love how Roo never disappoints in the soul department. Lee Fields is THE MAN and this set is going to be SOULICIOUS.
Side note -- hoping Nick Movshon makes the trip! The Expressions soar to a whole new level when he's holding down the bottom end. Also never hurts to have him on the farm for SuperJam purposes.
barring any major conflicts i'll be there. As of right now i have him in my top 5 "fun factor" shows. Doesn't matter if you know the music or not, the show will be a party no matter what.
While I'd love to see Lee on the main stage, I feel like the energy he'd create in a tent would be too good to pass up. Couldn't imagine anything better than funking in the shade during a mid-day tent set.
Impossible to say who's "better" between Lee and Charles, but my ears say Lee has the better voice in concert, while Charles juuuust takes him in the showmanship department.
I'm hoping for the Charles Bradley spot. I just hope people don't sleep on him.
I sure hope not. Having Charles Bradley play on What in the beginning of the day made it hard to see him over bands I hadn't before.
I wasn't sure how I'd react to a What Stage setting but it was nice. I've never been a fan of that stage and decided to bite the bullet. Being able to walk in the pit helped a lot.
My head says Other Tent for Lee, but who knows this early out.
If you loved Charles Bradley last year, then you will fall in love with Lee Fields. The slot that Bradley had last year should be good for Lee. Should be a great daytime show!
Although the site does say Thursday, I think this could be the a case that it might be a place holder date. Then again it is the only site listing a date. I am down for some soul music as the sun is setting.

I would love for this to be a 1pm show on friday or saturday a la Charles Bradley like you stated before. I am really looking forward to this show though.
So this is Lee last October at Stubb's. Guess who he's singing to here? Yeah - Mrs. G. He sang the whole damn song to her. By the end of the song, I had it 50/50 in my head that I was going home solo.

An embarrassing confession: I got very excited when I saw him on the list, because I didn't know he was still around. It later occurred to me that I was thinking of famed soul singer Lee Dorsey -- who sang such classics as Working in a Coalmine and Sneaking Sally Through the Alley -- and who is, in fact, dead.
Still excited for Lee Fields. Does he ever tour with members of the Dap-Kings? I see they're playing with Sharon Jones Friday and Saturday of that week in NY. So it seems at least possible that some of them could make a Thursday appearance with him. Wishful thinking?

I suppose it's possible, but The Expressions are a pretty full up band - they're Truth and Soul Records' house band kind of like the Dap Kings are to Daptone Records.

Saw 'em last night. Fanfukkintastic. Just as good as Charles Bradley, but Charles has a slight edge because he has better facial expressions. Their bass player is absolutely incredible...he blew everyone's mind at the Music Box last night. I mean, the whole band is very tight, but that bass player...god.damn.son.

For anyone in the greater Bonnaroo metropolitan area, Lee Fields & the Expressions are playing for free in Chattanooga tonight at 8. nightfallchattanooga.com/
I'm a bit disappointed at the What Stage noon slot, but it's still a Lee Fields show, so it's hard to REALLY be disappointed. Plus, it'll be nice and easy to get up front. I still would have loved to see Lee as a tent set after dark, but at least this'll kickstart one of the better Sundays in Bonnaroo history!
