This is one of the years where I really hope the additions are not too good because my schedule is going to be way too packed already. Awesome job Bonnaroo.

Alright, after letting the lineup digest, here are my thoughts, if anyone cares. It's great, probably the best one of my 4 Roo's. I'm disappointed that they missed out on a few artists that I was kind of expecting. YYY's, Tanlines, Spiritualized, and I would have liked one of either Hot Chip or Yeasayer. However, surprises like Wilco, The National, and that juicy looking superjam pretty much make up for it.
I think Coachella wins out on paper, but I'd rather deal with less conflicts and have longer sets at Roo, even if there aren't as many artists as I'd like to see. Plus, late nights.
Here are the "late adds" from 2012 Kenny Rogers, Rodrigo y Gabriela and C.U.B.A, Sam Bush Band, Michael Kiwanuka, Black Box Revelation DANZIG LEGACY - featuring music by Danzig, Samhain and Danzig/Doyle performing The Misfits Puscifer, Santigold, The Temper Trap, fun. The Cave Singers Art Vs. wasn't GZA an add last year? i thought he was added when the schedule dropped
I can't do much more than chuckle at those who find complaint with this lineup. Within minutes of the lineup drop I got messaged by several people who have never been to Roo looking for more info. In my ten years of Roo-going I have never seen such a solid roster.

yea he was. i think there were two or three sets of additions last year. i know he is was in one of them.
To a certain degree I agree with ilovefestys. It's one thing to diversify and evolve over the years, which I think roo has done well. There are plenty of bands I would've never paid to see on their own that I've been lucky enough to catch at roo over the years. However, the fest was built on jambands being the main attraction. I know they have been moving away from that but this is almost insulting to people that have been going since the beginning. 1 quasi jamband not even in the top 30 is ridiculous.
I'm not saying that roo should go back to the jamband days of old but throw us a freakin bone here. One barely mid tier act shows they are giving a big Quack you to their roots. Moe hasn't been back since 09 and lotus played thursday the only time they came. Who's going to bring in the sunrise for us? We had umphreys last year, sts9 in '11, disco biscuits in '10, moe in '09.
I don't think asking for more than 1 jamband on a lineup with over 100 artists and jam being the roots of this festival is too much to ask.
How do you know that Roo didnt try to book more jam bands but had trouble landing one due to availability or other issues? Festivals cannot just book whoever they want, there is a lot that goes into booking talent which includes competing against other promoters all over the world, money, and a band even wanting to play at all. Plus, there is still time to book more bands like they also add.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

How many 'jam bands' are there anyway? It seems like a niche genre, if it's even a genre. Specifically targeting a niche leads to repeat acts and may handcuff the festival's ability to diversify the lineup. I listen to all sorts of stuff so I don't understand being upset over one genre being misrepresented. Glass half full mentality, maybe this opens the door for you jam banders to experience new things.
By no means do I think Pitchfork is the supreme listing agent of musical talent, but you have to at least admit its readers are competent. That being said, I just went over this list, and wow... look at how many of these artists landed on the Roo 13 lineup: pitchfork.com/features/staff-lists/9032-2012-pitchfork-readers-poll/

I would agree with this, but in this case I have a hard time believing this considering that many of the jam bands don't travel over seas and there are a couple of festivals that are within two weeks leading up to roo.
I just read this entire thread. Awesome job folks.
The line up is so beautiful. Wow.
My husband and I are researching the line up from the bottom up(just like we do every year) and so far I'm liking most of it. Even if I don't like it I can respect it. So I just have to say
Who will play the late night The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey's McGee, Moe., or STS9 all nighter spot? Maybe there is a band like that I just don't know about on the lineup. Can someone fill me in or do they not have one? What other jam bands besides gov. Mule should I check out on this lineup? Also, what are the good EDM artist I need to look into on the lineup? I know this is a lazy ass way to do this, but I don't want risk missing a great set because I picked the wrong two songs at random from youtube and didn't realize what great artist they were. So now you know what I'm looking for can you inforoo friends help me out?

conspirator is my best guess....it's the keyboard player from DB and I think the drummer from Lotus? could be wrong on the second one though

This is the best lineup I've seen since 2009. I secretly hoped that The National would show up on this. The only late additions that I could really wish for would be Titus Andronicus, Foxygen, or Wavves. Other than that, I don't see why any true music lover could complain. I mean, we get Billy fukcing Idol.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
