I don't think it's so much hate as confusion. He's riding a huge wave of buzz and that performance did nothing to match it.
I'm sure that the album is worthy of all of the attention and I'll give it a go but it's on the basis of others' recommendations, not based on anything that I've heard of his music thus far.
Seriously? Cutting off the finale for sponsor promos? This ceremony stumbled hard towards the end.
Considering that the finale was a wank fest allowing the host to perform his new/terrible song, they did us all a favor. Seriously, you have LL Cool J and Chuck D on stage and they perform some abortion of a song from LL's comeback? When I saw they'd be playing with Tom Morello and Z-trip I was imagining a medley of classic Public Enemy and LL songs, but instead we got...WHADDUP. Jesus that was awful.

I was more hoping that it would improve due to the potential of the the players involved. Either way, cutting off your own finale is pretty dumb.

When they teased "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" I figured okay, here we go. Then...nothing. They've got Chuck D up there yelling out some repurposed lines from Welcome to the Terrordome, and you don't actually let him bust it out? F*ck that.
