I've heard this is one of the worst venues in the country though. The cops are supposed to be absolutely ruthless for every type of show, and the sound on the lawn is garbage.

You guessed right. Pretty impressed with her.
MPP is a strange land. The "granola" shows have better fans but the cops suck. The other shows, the cops are fine and the fans suck.

MPP has a really solid GA pit, which I haven't seen often at other amphitheaters. Generally if I can get that I'll go to a show there, otherwise I skip it.
Never had a problem with the cops.
This lineup looks great but I'm seeing Solange at the Black Cat and Phoenix and the YYYs at Coachella, so I'm going to pass. Also the guy who owns Sweetgreen is an ass.
There was one show in particular where me and another Inforooster went to where the cops tore through our lot to tackle a guy for selling water.
After 4 cops had him on the ground, one of them was asking if they needed to taze him (after he was in cuffs). It was the worst thing I've ever seen there.
It kinda amazes me that this costs so much, yet Virginfest is 1/3 bigger and free. They must be trying to turn a pretty tidy profit, rather than safely break even and bask in the promotional glow. Like I said, the guy who owns Sweetgreen is kinda awful.
Damn, 75 dollars is a lot but I probably will not be able to do any other festival this summer, plus Phoenix, Passion Pit, and Kendrick Lamar are nice. Decisions, decisions.....
