Usually I and everyone else on this board expresses an opinion upon starting a thread. Instead I would like to see what people project on this particular subject. Then I will interject I am still summing up my thoughts on the subject but feel he does deserve some discussion. After all after that holocaust on the senses by way of Tool several of us have got a taste and maybe even glanced further into his works.

I love his work and I'm a strong believer in what he has to say in his book The Mission of Art (tinyurl.com/dyq4jlv) -- a book I think all artists in any genre should read -- but I've met the guy in person and I found him to be a JERK.
He and his wife Allyson pump out this incredibly creepy, John-and-Yoko patronizing commercial vibe that belies all the sacred, spiritual, brotherhood-of-man stuff that's so key to their image.
And this is so weird, because his art's so good.
Maybe other people have had a different experience with him, but that's mine.

Are you kidding me? An Alex gray painting on one of the walls would literally make my head explode!
Literally? Are you sure? Literally. Literally? Come on. I mean.... Literally?
People that over use the word literally should literally look up the definition and only use it when applicable.
Surf, WTFRU? How do you know what his brain's reaction to an Alex Grey painting may be? He could have a very rare form of rapid and immediately expand tumor in his brain, that is triggered by live Alex Grey paintings. Often you are quick to speak and make assumptions when you do not have all the facts.
As for Alex Grey, his works are crazy looking, when in an Altered States and I close my eyes, he has taken that imagery, brought it to life, and placed it on paper. When I LOOK UP and see his work, I literately can taste the explosions in my head. They taste just like purple. Unlike my steak, his work is very well done.
