I've been the past three years and thoroughly enjoyed myself. But I don't know if I'll be making the trip this year (if I do, I won't be attending the day Kelly plays.) The fact of the matter is they booked a pedophile. Who likes to piss on people. And trick people into paying money so they can bask in his presence. He's a piece of shiz and a waste of a headliner.
I just hope that someone will hit him with a cup of piss while he's on stage.

Honestly, that sounds like the fault is on the club and the promoter. They booked him for an appearance. He appeared and took the money. Would it have been that much better if he performed for 10-15 minutes? Because based on those quotes from the Ziggy's guy, they didn't expect more than a few songs anyway. It sounds like people purchased tickets expecting a concert. The club should have made it clear that it was just an appearance.
Pitchfork surely hired him to perform, not appear. He will be headlining a festival in his hometown, I doubt he phones that in.
As for the pedobear thing...yeah, I have issues with that. But I still watch Polanski films, so it feels hypocritical to rip on a musician just because I can see his face when he's performing. Awful people can make worthwhile shiz.

According to their FB page, they will be making additional announcements real soon. Hopefully that means this friday and not two or three weeks from now. In the past, they would announce a decent amount of bands by around the first of March. Hopefully we get some solid additions real soon. i wonder who they would have go on right before these openers. Maybe someone like:
Grizzly Bear - Bjork Tame Impala - Belle & Sebastian TNGHT - R. Kelly
I saw that when the headliners got announced. I've never been a big fan of Ziggy's. It sucks, yes but I think p-dog is right. I'd blame them before I blamed him.
I can't imagine Grizzly Bear playing as a pre-headliner; they really felt like a headliner or bust to me. I'd bet both they and The xx end up at Lolla again like 2010.
I'd love to see Bat For Lashes play before Bjork but I'm not really sure how realistic that is. Tame Impala seems like a strong personality and I don't care when they play as long as they're there.
Edit: Where'd you say that they'll be making additional announcements real soon, doorknob? The only thing I see on the fest's Facebook is from four days ago saying "With more lineup announcements on the way, be sure to follow us on Twitter (@pitchforkfest) for exclusive updates!"

Yeah Bat For Lashes is a strong possibility. She does get the P4k love.
you could be right about GB. I was thinking it was more likely to have them at Lolla but you never know. It looks like Grizzly will be at every festival this year.
Tame might be more of a 615 act (third to last act of the night) but they are getting pretty big so who knows for sure.

TNGHT wouldn't be a pre-headliner, they would be the annual band that causes a clusterquack at the 3rd stage.
Tame Impala's tour dates worry me. I figured they were a lock, particularly since they were at Lolla last year, but I'm skeptical after seeing that routing.
I agree with gron about Grizzly Bear and The XX. Both seem too big to pre-headline. Or maybe I'm just thinking that because I don't want to drop fat stacks in the Heineken dome.

Yeah TNGHT Was kinda ridic. I was just struggling to think of a logical act before r. kelly. Maybe Frank Ocean but he's getting pretty huge right now so i doubt that.
Do you worry about Tame Impala because they are in Spain the week before P4k or because they are in chicago in early march?
They could just wait until they after they play chicago in a few weeks to make the announcement and the euro festival would be fine. look at all the bands that are playing both primavera then going to sasquatch with only a day to get there.

I'm worried about Tame Impala because they will be back in Europe by 8/8. They have a lot of international traveling already scheduled for 2013, and by that point they will have already toured North America more extensively than they ever have in the past. It seems like it might not be worth their while to come back so soon unless major festival paydays are on the table.

Possible but if they can get a few big shows in around p4k, they would do it. Last year, it seemed like M83 were back and forth like crazy last year. HItting up any and every show/festival last year.

Damn!
Well, Germany's Melt! Festival is the same weekend as the P4K festival and they announced their first batch of artists. It's pretty brutal as they got a bunch of bands that would have been great for p4k. they are as follows:
Alt-J | Azealia Banks | Bambounou | Julio Bashmore | Barnt | Ben UFO | James Blake | Chvrches | Dan Deacon | Daughter | Marcel Dettmann | Disclosure | Django Django | DJ Koze | Eats Everything | Everything Everything | Ellen Allien | Fantastic Mr Fox | Flying Lotus | Function | Get Physical Special feat. Andhim, Catz 'N Dogz, M.A.N.D.Y., Smash TV (live), Wankelmut | Henrik Schwarz & Band | James Holden | Joy Orbison | Karenn | Kettcar | King Krule | Ben Klock | Laing | Christian Löffler | Modeselektor & Apparat (DJ-Set) | Mount Kimbie | Miss Kittin (live) | Mykki Blanco | The Knife | Oliver Koletzki | Markus Kavka | Owen Pallett | Purity Ring | Rebel Rave @ Big Wheel feat. Art Department, Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus u.a. | Roosevelt | Rudimental | Ry/Frank Wiedemann | SBTRKT (DJ-Set) | Schwarzmann (live) | Scuba | Shields | Sinkane | Solomun | Swim Deep | The 1975 | Todd Terje & Lindstrøm live | Otto Von Schirach | Woodkid | Zebra Katz
Really would have loved to see Daughter, Everything Everything, Modeslektor & Apparat, Mount Kimbie, Sinkane, Todd Terje/Lindstrom, and (IN PARTICULAR) The Knife.

Bummer.
Sigh, I didn't expect The Knife, but this ends the Pitchfork dream and likely any random US dates till afte the European Tour.
2013 Pitchfork and TBA 2012 Bonnaroo and Maha Festival 2011 WakaROO (Wakarusa and Bonnaroo) Maha Festival 2010 Coachella 2009.... First Roo 2008 lost my festival virginity to Wakarusa
Hey doorknob, I'm not sure if you saw the edit on my post yesterday. Just curious, where'd you see that the fest said they'd post information soon? I can't find anything on their Facebook/Twitter/website. I just don't want to get my hopes up cause I know it's usually around the first of March when they release a good chunk of the lineup.

Gron, I saw the following on the pitchfork festival facebook page:
With more lineup announcements on the way, be sure to follow us on Twitter (@pitchforkfest) for exclusive updates!
I guess its not a ton to go upon but its some sort of an announcement. Hopefully they add more bands sooner rather then later.
Garageland, I think Wild Nothing & The Breeders have a good chance. Especially the latter as they have been predicted rumors from other sources. Solange might happen, she could get that position Robyn got a couple of years ago and she does get a lot of p4k love. Low might get the elder statesmen roll (ie Superchunk, Olivia Tremor Control, etc). Don't have much faith for the others but they could happen.

Yeah, I've noticed lately that I really don't know what I'm talking about half the time. That said, I still think it's shizzy that anyone would charge fans just to bask in their presence.
I may or may not be doing Pitchfork. Too early to tell. Depends on the rest of the lineup/my financial situation.

Probably. Last year, Flying Lotus, Atlas Sound, Sleigh Bells, Real Estate, Cloud Nothings, & Lower Dens were at both festivals. They are not that far away from one another. A band could be at one festival and then hop a quick flight to the other one no prob. P4K & Forecastle have a little bit of a different vibe in terms of crowds and what type of bands they go after so I wouldn't see a ton of overlapping but a decent amount. Hopefully P4k makes another announcement soon!
