I see the reason for point number 1, but there are several situations that would have to be covered: If a player does it going into a runoff, can the 2 "ref votes" add that player to the runoff if the players are tied with 2?
Yes. Their two votes would apply the next round of voting which starts.
If the offending player has one less vote than someone about to be voted off, only those two in the runoff, can the ref votes instantly change the tally to vote off that player originally with less votes/would it extend the round?
Ref votes won't do anything instantly, but would kick in the round after the offense.
I also see some strategy with this too now . . . a mafia member can now (on purpose or not) not vote to add the ref votes to put themselves in danger/save other mafia about to be voted off. I am sure there are a few other ways, but not going to list em all.
I didn't think about the strategic implications of this. The scenario you outlined wouldn't matter, though... the time-out votes added would come after a fellow Mafia would have already been voted off. It wouldn't affect a vote in progress, just the next one.
One thing I really dislike about current Mafia rules is that the current time-out rule allows for the possibility of an even-numbered group of players going into a round. Given that this game is dependent on votes and outnumbering Townspeople, I think it allows for the possibility of a game basically short-circuiting and becoming unable to proceed. It hasn't happened yet, thankfully, but I worry about it so long as it's possible. I'd like to see that possibility eliminated, through this or other means. As the guy who literally wrote these rules, I feel somewhat obligated to eliminate that possibility.
On point 2, is this just for using google or something to search or what?? I guess I don't understand the need to twitterize our beloved arcade Can you not just view the refs recent posts if you don't trust the townie tallies?
Yeah, I suppose you can just trust the Ref's posts. The Ref doesn't always make the tallies, though. I know, for me this game, I ran into complications just searching "vote" or "tally," particularly when the NBF-posted tally came into play. I'm not dead-set on twitterizing it, exactly, but is there something we can be doing to make it more easily searchable? Something uniform to make game update posts like that stick out from other posts?
