Why does everyone always have to remind me about the donuts?!?! I still can't believe I didn't get one earlier in the weekend before the line there got crazy.
Yea I never got one of those donuts either. As a fat man, you can't really indulge in those types of foods in large public areas. You're just confirming the stereotype. As you walk around with your giant donut in hand, everyone that see's you is thinking "awwww, look at tubby over there, him noming on a donut, poor tubby"
It wasn't just this one time. It's all over this board. Just look at all the threads that have been created for keeping certain types of EDM off the farm.
Are you talking about the no deadmau5, skrillex, etc. thread? That was more of a reaction to Bonnaroo only booking a narrow slice of electronic music rather than the variety that they do with other types of music. Well, that's what it started as then it went to a dark, dark place.

And I would give zero f*cks considering the reviews I read of them. Honestly, we may have to be donut buddies because I have a feeling that eating that much sugar at once at Roo would be a poor choice.

I wasn't inferring that any of those bands are bad because they're popular. Show me where I said it, and I'll eat my hat.
The Mountain Goats (534,930) have more listeners on last.fm than The Lumineers (324,291), and Yo La Tengo has just less than both of them combined (796,794). I would NEVER think a band is bad because they're popular. I usually dislike a band because I feel that they are unoriginal and don't contribute anything to the musical world.
Goodness I'm tired of people calling me a hipster because there's not a TON of super mainstream music I enjoy.
Also, I recognize that big acts draw meat from the shows I want to see, which I am very thankful for, and is one of the reasons I go to Bonnaroo, and not to Coachella or Pitchfork.
Also because Amish donuts.
THE END.
Delusional closet hipster uses last.fm play counts to justify his own music hipsterness.
It's all in jest, I'm not judging you as a human being or anything. As long as you aren't judging me for having Juicy J as my #1 last.fm play count (he's only 20 plays ahead of Animal Collective, though). I like all the bands on your list. <3
What the fuck thread am I in again? Oh right, Arist Confirmation. I keep tweeting Andrew WK but he's not responding.

Yes that thread and others. I think Bonnaroo has done a great job in representing EDM since its rise. In 2011 I checked out Shpongle and Ratatat which are far from the dubstep bro-fests, and last year we had Major Lazer, FlyLo, SBTRKT, and Big G and only Skrillex for the bros. I think it's not enough for many people on this board to just have other types of EDM are represented...they simply won't be happy until no bro-step is on the farm.
No idea, but it is the odds on date when you look at history. Couple that with the possibility of a Mardi Gras themed run-up to the date via their post on facebook earlier today, and the case for the 12th is pretty strong even without the radio station confirming it.
We're not all hipster douchebags who automatically rule out any top-40 because we can't brag to our other hipster quack friends about how "oh I totally knew about that band when they were only releasing self-pressed vinyl EPs out of their Dodge Caravan."
This is an ignorant argument. People who are truy devoted to seeking out and listening to music go down many paths to find music. Sometimes they find something great that happens to be an obscure, limited pressing, such as this Dodge Caravan EP. I seriously do not know anybody who puts in the time to discover, learn about, listen, and attend shows just to say they found something first. If anything, music obsessives want to share the music they found with others so they do not overlook something that is under promoted or hard to find. They also care about the backstory because it can lead to more great finds. Nobody rules out Top-40, it's just that it's a small chunk of the music out there and not all of it is that great. A lot of these people are more niche oriented anyway. I've spent a lot time with people on this board that devote a good chunk of their daily lives to music and everybody does it out of their love for it and they come inforoo to share their passion with others. Maybe you should branch out to other threads on this board. It may change how you view things.

Okay, fair play to our boy, festivalsnob. He is direct linking this thread when he posts the list of confirmed acts.
Good he did that. CoS used to not link to us and then eventually did after enough complaints/posts about how they "steal" it from us.
Glad to see it. I feel like being up front is fine. Passing things off as your own insider info to boost up your followers and site-viewers is the frustrating part so hope he keeps it up. Just wish they'd refer to it as "Inforoo" and not "the Bonnaroo Forums". Oh well.

Agreed.
"'Hipster' is a term co-opted for use as a meaningless pejorative in order to vaguely call someone else’s authenticity into question and, by extension, claim authenticity for yourself.
It serves no conversational function and imparts no information, save for indicating the opinions and preferences of the speaker.
Meanwhile, a market myth has sprung up around the term, as well as a cultural bogeyman consisting of elusive white 20-somethings who wear certain clothes (but no one will agree on what), listen to certain music (no one can agree on this either), and act a certain way (you’ve probably sensed the pattern on your own).
You can’t define what “that kind of behavior or fashion or lifestyle” actually is, nor will you ever be able to. That’s because you don’t use “hipster” to describe an actual group of people, but to describe a fictional stereotype that is an outlet for literally anything that annoys you.
The twist, of course, is that if it weren’t for your own insecurities, nothing that a “hipster” could do or wear would ever affect you emotionally. But you are insecure about your own authenticity - “Do I wear what I wear because I want to? Do I listen to my music because I truly like it? I’m certainly not like those filthy hipsters!” - so you project those feelings.
Suffice it to say, no one self-identifies as a hipster; the term is always applied to an Other, to separate the authentic Us from the inauthentic, “ironic” Them."

Now if Johnny Davis would stop trolling the Facebook page and speaking on this page's behalf and confirming acts and calling people dumb for not knowing the lineup.

also for the record, I HATED Of Monsters and Men when they first started getting airplay on Alt Nation. Earlier this month I watched a few youtube vids of their live performances and totally changed my opinion of them.
I've had My Head is an Animal on repeat for the past 2 weeks now and it's a completely fantastic album start to finish.
Also Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir is a fucking babe.

Instead of entirely ignoring the content of my argument and just slurring out "lol your still a hipster whatev", maybe you could actually attempt to refute it. I acknowledge and appreciate that you're not trying to attack my personal character, but I can't take you seriously when you dodge the content of what I'm trying to saying.
In an effort not to muck up this thread, I want to invite you to message me. I would genuinely like to understand the way you think.
