Maybe he heard The Stooges instead of The Stones. I could see them headline a festival like Riverbend. Thinking The Stones would even consider playing a town called Chattanooga is ridiculous.
Ever hear of Moncton, New Brunswick? Cuz the stones played there a few years ago,

Ha true, and half of NB showed up for it, lol.
I was at the show in Halifax. I felt at the time I had way over paid ($229) as I was a poor cook at the time, but thinking about it now we got to see Sloan, Alice Cooper and Kanye West also. This was back in 2006.

Edit: Still overpaid!
I was living in Fredericton at the time, but didn't make it to the Moncton show. Half the people I knew went though.
Really? Do you guys just send out contracts and see what comes back? That is not how it works in the real world. Someone would contact The Rolling Stones management and see if they are interested, if they act like they are contract negotiations would begin. If they tell you to fuck off a contract is never written. Whether your story is true or not a contract would of never made even been made because the Stones would of told you instantly to fuck off.
I'm getting the impression that you made that yourself and I think you are trying way too hard to impress us

Yea, I believe you that you work for Riverbend, and they offered the Stones, but I'm not convinced they will be playing Bonnaroo simply because they declined the offer. I don't know that they would disclose that as a reason for declining. If anything they would probably say "scheduling conflicts."

In his defense, the first line of the letter states "to confirm the offer." Which supports the idea that talks had already been initiated and this wasnt some shot in the dark letter, hoping to get an act for a festival.

I feel like there are conflicting stories. Do you think the Stones are playing Roo because they declined Riverbend, or do did you hear it from your boss who's buddies with people at Supafly? I thought it was the latter.

I thought the original story was they declined Riverbend because they were playing Bonnaroo.
I may be confused. But I don't really care enough to look back and find out.

Which in my mind proves it's fake, because no way would negotiations ever get that far

If you look back I said the reason the declined us was because they were under contractual obligations and could not perform on the dates of Riverbend. Look at the exclusion clause. I guarantee that Bonnaroo has one in there contracts which is very similar. Here is how it works when booking an artist. 1. you get a quote 2. you make and offer usually over phone or email 3. you mail a hardcopy to the booking agent confirming the email or phone offer 4. They accept it or reject it. If accepted a detailed contract is worked out. Of course it does not prove that they are performing at Bonnaroo. But knowing the they are doing festivals and there is definitely going to be a performance in east tennessee. Plus The entertainment manager here told me they accepted an offer from Bonnaroo. Thats all I'm going to say about it. The line up drops soon and all will be revealed.

Sorry to break it to you, but the Stones rejected your offer because it wouldn't even cover Keith's drug bill.
The Stone's (as legendary as they are) would be a big disappointment for many Roo goer's if they are booked. Last time I saw them (in a big setting) it was a bit of a yawn fest. To each their own.....here's hoping for McCartney!

I don't doubt that this guy works for the Riverbend Festival, that this festival asked the Stones about playing (as a shot in the dark), and that the Stones rejected this festival's offer.
The part I don't believe is the part where he sees that the Stones rejected it because of prior obligations. The Stones rejected it because it's less than a third of what they normally get paid for a show, not because they are already playing another festival or another show in TN. And this guy's desperation to prove that he's right makes it look more likely that he made the Bonnaroo part up.
