No surprise here but i talked to Sufjan Stevens about his general dislike for festivals and he said maybe in a few years but he didn't seem like fests were anything he wanted to do in the near future
Dave - looks like it's time for another "Electronica Monday" next week.
I don't even know if I would put Trust under the "electronica" label as I have always seen that as more of straight-up dancey dance music, which Trust isn't.
That being said, you really should check it out, Tom.

Dave - sorry for my lame joke. I do know Trust. It was one of the first albums I recommended when I started dipping into Now Playing. I was just trying a (weak) joke with Phi based on his "who" response to a GL post a little earlier. I thought he got the joke, since he responded in a similar way to my response with the Electronica Monday thing. Looking back, probably not.

Definitely not a surprise but still sad to hear. His Age of Adz tour would've been an insane late night a couple years ago. What a great performer. I hope he changes his mind someday.
Yeah, he said one of his main problems with festivals was that the artists get treated like cattle and are at the mercy of the promoters. I think a LN closing spot would be a perfect solution
Roo could be their last stop in the US before heading back to Europe for the rest of the summer. I know the Kooks did that last year (I'm guessing other bands probably did as well).

Being in Europe close is overrated. There were 3 or 4 bands last year who played a festival in Portugal (I think it was Primavera Sound but Im not sure) the same weekend as roo, let alone dates in europe a week later. Based on the OFM+M response if they arent there its probably gonna be because of negotiation problems or something other than being in Europe in the summer. Chances are good I think means both sides are open to it

My thought just was that if a European festival makes a better offer they probably just travel there a week earlier. What makes the chances of them playing Bonnaroo smaller.
If they would only play Europe in July, the chances would be more favorable. But nonetheless I think they fit great at Bonnaroo and they are probably booked or on hold already.
Bands like Of Monsters And Men are probably contacted a year in advance and plan their whole touring schedule around the big festivals.

They also played Outside Lands last year, there's a good chance they were booked for both festivals at the same time (not to mention Roo's Facebook/Twitter have been promoting the shiz out of their peformance of "Mountain Sound" in the woods at OSL).

I don't care what the logic is or lack-there-of, I just want some good news! I'm taking the Of Monsters & Men answer Tuco scored to be a "Hell yes, they'll be there!" response.
I'll be disappointed later on if they aren't, but in the meantime, I can be happy.

I'd love to see them. They're booked for two European festivals (not sure of the dates of the second) but I feel like they'll at least be asked to play at Roo.

Anyone seen them live before?
I saw them the night before Thanksgiving, they were phenomenal.
They are playing festivals in Europe after Roo and Lolla's in South America in April. They have May and all of June except the last weekend free.

From the college concert promoting site someone just posted in here it says they are open for dates in late may, and with no dates until after roo I think theyll definitely be there
What's the Quasi-Confirmed for DIIV? That mean their confirmation came from a not so concrete source?
There's a "source" link after each band to show why they are in each section. Apparently someone talked to a member of the band. Since it's not concrete like tour dates or a press release or an e-mail for proof it goes in the quasi-confirmed.

Awesome, thanks for clearing that up. Just really hoping they're going to the farm, and was looking for a little more confirmation
bonnaroo just sent out a tweet re: "help us announce the 2013 lineup". I haven't watched the video that explains it but if it works anything like the way freefest did it, sending in a bunch of entries could be a good way to get artist confirmations before the lineup drops (even if its only a week or two)
