Chip Kelly is staying at Oregon. Is he ever going to make the jump or is he just gonna be an every year tease?
What I don't get is how this doesn't hurt his recruiting.
Also, I haven't been paying attention, but has the overrated SEC been exposed for being overrated yet?
Oregon recruiting is different. they get the kids they want to play their style. they don't usually end up with a highly ranked class. they just get what they need to run that offense.
The defenses are a wash to me. Anyone who says there is a huge difference is high. I think the biggest difference is in the offense. Bama is 13th in points for. ND is 75th. You could argue that ND has a tougher schedule, but it's not that much of a difference to make up for that big of a gap.
Bama has a lot in the intangibles categories. Bama has national titles in the last 2 of 3 years while ND is coming off two consecutive 8-5 seasons. ND is undefeated but their victories against Stanford (bad refs) and Pitt (chokearific kicker) leave a lot of people with bad tastes in their mouths in regards to wanting to pump up ND being legit despite them beating Michigan and Oklahoma.
What I find funny is the Irish almost losing to Stanford is looked at more negatively than Bama actually losing to A&M.
I think it has a lot to do with the SEC bias in the media, but whatever.

I know how they recruit, I was more talking about them getting any top recruits to commit knowing that Kelly is likely to leave as soon as an NFL owner loses his mind and just gives him autonomy to control the entire franchise.
there is definitely SEC bias. I would like to see ND win just for that reason. with the SEC losing their 3 biggest games it might temper that a little bit.

Just looking forward to a fun game tonight.
Yeah, it does seem like people have forgotten about that loss really quick. I think it will be a close game which will be nice considering the sh*t show the NFL put on this weekend.

Yet again, LSU was the 4th highest ranked team. Just because they played Clemson doesn't mean anyone else cared.
Also, when the ACC is 8-1 in BCS title games with the only loss coming from another ACC team, we will discuss which conference deserves to be cocky going into the title game.

What's funny is I loved this weekend's games, with the exception of the Packers thumping of Minnesota.
I'm a defensive guy, so hard-nosed slugfests are my favorite. I am fully aware that this is not what 99% of the country wants, though.
Actually, that part makes me enjoy those games even more.

more people watched LSU. more people cared. it was a bigger game.

I swear to Jeebus, sang. They need to study your brain to determine what enzyme malfunction causes you to love college football so much yet talk about it at the level of someone who doesn't know the difference between an inside and outside linebacker.
Although I really could care less who wins tonight, this is the last college football game for over 7 months. That makes me sad. It's been a lot of fun having this thread to cheer & vent in throughout the season.
I do have to say I am SICK of Bama in the NC game. Here's to my team getting there next year!!!
SEC bias, what the quack are you all talking about? Are you serious? Please find some stats where the SEC has not been the dominating conference the past years. Can any one provide a little bit of data to prove another Conference that is better than the SEC? For starters, how about we look at the National Champion for the past 7 years.

There is a bias that pretty much guarantees that an SEC team will play for the championship, no matter what. I can't argue against what happens when they get there, but during the season there are definitely things in place that sway things in the direction of SEC teams. I've linked articles about that get ignored or ridiculed, but they are the truth. A playoff system is the only way to settle it for real, not this 4 team business. If there is a playoff and the SEC still dominates the way they do then I will give them full credit.
