Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
Well our little town has certainly improved with booking shows. Unfortunately that makes my concert budget strained far more than usual.
Here are the shows I'm trying to decide between
Leon Russell $30 Jackie Greene $15 Trampled by Turtles $15 North Mississippi Allstars $20 Smokey Robinson $55 Not to mention Parsifal and Rigoletto $20 each - Definitely going to one of these
We're already taking the kids to Galactic. With the exception of Jackie Greene (who I saw with Trigger Hippy back in April) I have not seen any of these acts. BTW, if hubby and I both go add $50 for the babysitter
So whadya think? Who should get my hard earned dollars?
I'll tell you this if I had the option between all of those and money was not an issue at all I would see Trampled by Turtles first and foremost. My favorite at what they do and a really great live band. Their Roo set was in the top 3 shows of the weekend for me. Probably second would be Jackie, with the rest all about the same.
Tramped by Turtles! They're better AND budget-priced to meet your entertainment needs!
Then you can also see NMAS (who will give you a huge bang for your buck!) instead of spending almost the same amount on Leon Russell who is OK in comparison. If you're not a huge Leon fan, then it's a no-brainer.
Good call on Galactic with the kids. I would do North Mississippi, as they never dissapoint live. And I prefer my Rigoletto in a nice vodka-tomato sauce.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Wow the masses think like I do, no wonder I love this crowd.
Galactic is a no brainer, especially with Corey Glover with them. Hell, my 11 year old son wants to go so much he was offering to pay for his ticket with his allowance.
TBT is my first choice and I've heard great things about NMAS but don't know much of their work. They're playing with The Missing Cats who I know NOTHING about. Any recommendations?
Hubby is still deciding about Smokey, the price is high and the venue is positively awful but I think he's on his bucket list.
It's so strange to have these issues because we've usually had such crappy options other than bars in the local area. Some promoters have seriously raised the bar. shiz, I didn't even mention the ones I've decided against/can't get tickets/haven't decided.
Mavis Staples, Victor Wooten Band & Jimmy Herring Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Todd Snider, Tift Merritt, Umphrey's...
And I'll be at one of the operas, Live Simulcast from the Met BABY!
April 12-14th - Indio, CA - Coachella Weekend 1
May 3-5th - Memphis, TN - Beale St. Music Festival
June 13-16th - Manchester, TN - Bonnaroo
July 12-14th - Louisville, KY - Forecastle Festival
August 2-4th - Chicago, IL - Lollapalooza
September 27-29th - Atlanta, GA - TomorrowWorld
October 25-27th - Asheville, NC - Mountain Oasis
Come on guys. If I had put up a post talking about my budget either no one would have responded at or the responses would have been "Screw your kids college fund, see em all!"
He's like you made an über troll by taking the worst parts of me (the utter disregard for other people's opinions), Phi (cluttering up threads with memes and adding nothing to a discussion) and Jess (an apparent belief that everyone else is the problem and/or arrogance without self awareness).
I was going to recommend Smokey Robinson, but not for $55.
Yeah, tickets supposedly ranged from $38-100 but they're are the 55 level the day after the show was announced and you can't get two together. And honestly the venue completely sucks (College gym) acoustically so if hubby decides to go I'll stay with the kids.

there's always someone with an extra ticket they need to get rid of, but you know these venues, so maybe the get-it-at-the-last-minute method would work for the Smokey Robinson show...good luck!!
oh, and personally I'd go see the NMAS any day of the week for $20
