The scene with Jay talking about how great a cop McNulty was was really awesome. One of my favorite from the entire series.
And DAMN Slim Charles is the shit. "That was for Joe". Hell yeah.
I thought seeing Mike take over as "the new Omar" was cool at first but the more I thought about it the more upset I was. You can't just replace Omar :\.
Dukie becoming a homeless junkie was sad. But I have hope he'll end up like Bubbles. The end of Bubbles storyline brought a tear to my eye honestly. that was awesome.
I really hope Carcetti got his shit together and fixed everything that he originally wanted to. I loved how he started out with good intentions but become the "typical politician". I'm hoping as mayor he was able to get back on the right track.
Man, I'm really bummed to see all of it end. I definitely get all the hype now. Without a doubt The Wire is one of the greatest TV shows ever made.
I feel kind of odd when I post B-movies in here... I don't want people to think that's all I watch... that's just a vast majority of it.
But on the real, if you're into watching those old slasher type movies, really, really check out The Burning. A young (and full headed!) Jason Alexander highlights this relatively bigger budget venture into the trashy subgenre. It is just unfortunate that it often gets lumped in with the low quality, shat out for a quick buck dreck that polluted theaters throughout the whole decade. It really is one of the best of the type, and I've seen a lot of those from that specific period.
Never feel odd about posting B-movies. I love each and every one. I can't recall if I have seen this one or not though. Will definitely watch it tomorrow after work.

Mike replaced Omar like Omar replaced No heart Anthony. He's not the same guy, but he fills that void in the streets left by Omar dying. Omar is an iconic character but the thesis of the show is how everything is cyclical despite all the effort of everyone involved.
Carcetti became Governor at the end. He had already been mayor. Either way, I never saw him as redeeming himself in the future.
I still say Bubbles walking up the stairs and sitting down at the table is one of the most emotionally satisfying scenes in TV history.
Serious question, don't watch either show - why is it important?
They are both exclusive to Netflix
But why does one beating the other mean anything? I could see if someone were rooting for them both to succeed because that means the Netflix model may have some viability.

Netflix's viability has already been proven. It, along with Redbox, is putting rental chains like Blockbuster out of business. The streaming service with today's Internet ready high def TVs is a great thing. I don't watch either show. It's notable because both are Netflix exclusives. Arrested Development was already a show with a big cult following and the other is a Netflix original. Their first successful one I would assume. They had another series with Steve Van Zandt, but I haven't heard many people praising it.
Dude you're not getting my question. At all. I'm well aware of the Netflix and Blockbuster saga and streaming and high def. I'm not from Jupiter.
My question was simply directed to Dave who cursedly commented that it beat out Arrested Development. I am wondering if his enthusiasm is for the Orange show doing so well or specifically for beating AD as that shows even a level of popularity that perhaps he thought it didn't have.
And by the way, my example was not for the viability of Netfilx. It was regarding television shows made exclusively for Netflix and that most certainly has not yet been proven. We won't know that for a few years. Just like any other entertainment model.

My guess would be that each series debut is improving due to the popularity of the last and word getting out to others that quality shows are being introduced on the format. I'll be interested to hear Dave's explanation of his celebratory cursing as well.

AD had a large amount of press leading up the new season premiere. OITNB had basically none. It being successful to the level that it beat out AD shows that it is catching on, so a) other people like it too and b) it makes it more certain that season 2 will be made.
