So although none of it has been officially announced My Morning Jacket is playing the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY December 27-29 and somewhere in Boston on NYE. Who else is in?
Are you thinkin' about an Epic Road Trip, Pt. 2? Although in the winter, I recommend flying into Boston. You've got mad driving skillz, but those folks are quackin' insane.
The three nights are on the venues site but haven't been announced by the band yet.
In regards to logistics on housing and transportation I'm not going to even worry about thinking about that until I have paid this summer off. There are some fairly reasonably priced hotels within 20 min of Port Chester. As with Boston it sounds like they will be playing a big arena so I figure it will have good public transportation or at least easy access for driving.
Crap. Just accidentally deleted my post re: Boston show.
The last outbound T run is 12:30 a.m., so if you're not staying at hotel near the venue, you'll need a car. Waits for taxis on NYE will be beyond ridic.
That's stupid. Well we can figure something out I'm sure. Hopefully a decent hotel right across the street or something. Once everything becomes official the MMJ forumers will logistics the hell out of the whole trip I'm sure. We can piggyback off of them
I could have sworn I heard they were playing the Garden. As for hotels in Boston, going to be very pricey New Years Eve and you will pay an arm and leg to take a cab even just out side the city. For a hotel in the city I would recommend using Priceline or Hotwire(or one of the other sites where you select the stars and they don't tell you the hotel). There is only 1 possible 3 star hotel in the city and its a Holiday Inn(DON'T STAY HERE, it's basically the official hotel of Mass General and they are super strict on noise). Anything else that comes up is pretty nice, I have even had the Hilton be my mystery hotel once. Any other Boston logistic questions you have, I'm happy to answer, I've pretty much done it all when it comes to staying in or around the city and the transportation that goes along.

I believe with First Night Boston going on they extend the T on NYE. But this is my first new year's here so we'll see. Either way, count me in. It'll be much more comfy to be home than cramming a hotel room in NYC for Phish.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I just did a quick search of hotels for the night and there are plenty that are not absurd (IE 180-280). Considering it's NYE, I expected more. Plus we'll split... I agree with Holls. The second that we get a venue... WE POUNCE!

What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
I'm def down for Boston. Port Chester not so much. It feels silly to get a hotel room in Boston on such an expensive night considering I'm just over an hour away and the gf is just under an hour ... but it is New Years, and shenanigans will ensue. I did end up staying in Natick one night due to there being sleet and freezing rain after a show... def. don't want to risk driving home in shit weather from Boston again.
I think it'll be at the Garden. I'd be shocked if something this caliber was at Agganis. Matthews would be awesome, but never going to happen. They can certainly sell 15k tickets in Boston, right?
Bonz: what about a suite for 2/nts @ Hotel Commonwealth? They are reasonably priced ($259/nt for the Fenway) and look spacious enough for folks to crash on the floor if necessary. Of course you know it's gonna be necessary: we're all a bunch of damn lushpuppies, and it's NYE!!!
The Hotel Buckminster which is walking distance to Agganis has rooms with 2 queens for $139 a night, would be reaaaaallly cheap split 4 ways.
edit/ It also appears their suites start at $174/nt and max out at $210/nt. They have a suite that has 2 fulls and 1 queen for $204/nt, which would be awesome for a big group.
