This year has been epic! I have seen and experienced much. I have quite frankly seen so many good shows over the years. However next Saturday July the 7th one of the oddest ones and a cherry on top of my fun for the year is being hoisted up on top of the cake. I have a ticket to Ringo Starr's Birthday Show at The Ryman. I have seen peopel from legendary groups over the years that were before my time but this one has me super stoked. Apparently every year Ringo makes a big hoopla and has a birthday show. Well I got a ticket and it surprised the shiz out of me when I did. I had a harder time getting Jack White tickets at The Ryman. Hell even Radiohead tickets were harder to get for Atlanta. But I must have the power of corncat on my side. I am so stoked it even guarantees on his website that he will play such hits as "Yellow Submarine". One Beatles song would make the trip well worth it. Anything else will be bonus his All Starr band is not to shabby from what I have gathered looking around on Youtube. As a bonus I just found out today at work I have a 4 day weekend because of the fourth of July. I will have to go back to work the next day but I work thirds and Nashville is just a two hour drive. So plenty of time to recouperate from the "Hangover Beatles Edition". So my big question is, is anyone else going? Nobody believed I could get a ticket to the show amongst my real life friends. If anyone is aroudn I would love to hang out or something before the show as I am pretty sure I will be rolling solo to this one. We can sit out in front of The Ryman and tell the scalpers that Paul McCartney was seen wandering around town and drive up the price on tickets lol. Actually the show is sold out now and the tickets are going for $200 last I checked. So there should be some fun in that endeavor of getting the scalpers all worked up on the street corner screaming about a "half Beatles reunion" I have been pissed since the whole Jack White debacle and have decided to wreck hell on them. I notice StubHub only has 13 tickets available where in the past I have noticed at least a 100 available for Ryman shows a week out. Basically I just want to be an ass to them. Also I am going to photograph them and see if I can work on a scalper database. I really want to get to the heart of this organized criminal enterprise. Anyway next Saturday I am going to make their lives hell on the street corner as revenge for Jack White. Yes that is right Lono is going to piss off an entire gang. If you live in Nashville and have some time to kill maybe you could get in on the fun as well We could work some sort of 3 card Monte scam on them. And it will be hot well around a 100 degrees. lets see what happens when a hustle gets deflated! and I just check the tickets are now going for $300-$400 wtf? This could be an intersting game I play.

Basically I could go up to them trying to rook someone buying tickets and say "I just saw Paul McCartney downtown" and a second person could come up and be like "he is full of shit and is working with the scalper" this would be a rapid inflate and deflate of prices in the ensuing seconds. It would piss off the scalper in 100 degree weather. Maybe dropping it even back down to face value or some semblence of it. It is an odd game to play for sure. With highly unpredicatable results. I am open to suggestions or even it might just drive the tickets up so high nobody can afford them and they are stuck holding the tickets for the show and eat the front money altogether.

A lot of peole hate on Ringo's live shows. I'm seeing him on the 4th of July in Orange Beach! Never seen a Beatle before so I'm excited. I'm going to take people hating on Ringo the same as I take people hating on Bob Dylan or Phil Lesh's singing. "You're gonna miss him when he's gone!"
4th of July will be a throwdown too I would expect...the Wharf always has a huge fireworks display on the 4th so hopefully Ringo will go out Hangout style and jam out an Octopus's Garden while the fireworks are going off or something!
I actually got hooked up with free tix that are face value of $80.....my Dad and I are going, I'm really looking forward to this.

Me to I am excited I have center floor seats at The Ryman. I am 10 rows back so this is going to be awesome and I wish we could have fireworks here there is currently a burn ban due to a horrible drought. I am curious to see what this birthday show has to offer. I have been looking at his recent set lists. I defienently hope he plays the "No No Song" sonce the show is in Nashville and that city is mentioned in the song.

Where in Kentucky are you driving from? Me and my girlfriend are headed down for this and should get into Nashville by 3 or 4 local time. If you pick a place downtown we can try to meet up for a pre-show drink.
I live in Madisonville but will drive down through Bowling Green hit me up I am amicable enough as some people on this board can testify and would be glad to meet some Inforoosters as always. I am going to get the last of my plans hammered out tomroow. But I will be downtown mad early Saturday.

Saw the show on the 4th at The Wharf in Orange Beach. My Dad and I went (had free radio tix) and we had a great time. He got super drunk and I drove him lol
The highlites of the show were the Beatles songs obviously, and the Santana songs. The keyboard player was an original member and I'm 90% sure he is the guy singing on most of the classics. Black Magic Woman and "Change Your Evil Ways."
However, the rest of the songs were meh. Lots of Todd Rundgren, Toto and Mr. Mister songs. wtf? Roseanna was cool but some of the other songs, although very melodic and nice, just weren't doing it for me.
The band itself is incredibly tight though. Hearing The Beatles and Santana songs sounds like you are hearing those actual bands.
Seeing this show in the Ryman would be pretty badass
I'm actually glad you said there were lots of Todd Rundgren tunes as that is something I'm looking forward to. Otherwise, I skipped out on a Gregg Rolie show I attended to see the opener several years back and have regretted it since so it will be good to make up for that as well.

Had to bump this thread up there is a DVD being released of the show I saw several signs saying they were filming the show well this March it is being released and will be a treasured item for old Lono nothing like I HOPE TO CORNCATALMIGHTY SEEING MYSELF IN THE PRESENCE OF A BEATLE JAMMING OUT TO THE SHOW LIKE A TRUE SPUNION ON LEFTOVER ROO CORN AND ROCKING OUT TO YELLOW SUBMARINE! I will buy two copies one to watch and one to frame with my ticket stub! this will be some of the greatest swag I have ever come into possesion of! I know not many people were able to go I got lucky when they went on sale and snagged a ticket at face value. Also I will consider this a good omen for Paul playing Bonnaroo until lineup makes it either a reality of me seeing half of the Beatles in one year or an epic letdown. I know not the same right? well it is all good to me irregardless of the outcome of seeing half versus seeing the whole unit. I know there would be a certain magic but I do live in the present time and have seen some the greatest shows ever put on so I will take what i get and be grateful and very very grateful I was just about 13 rows back and dead center for those of you who have attended a show at The Ryman you will know what's up and there were tons of cameras so I feel even a second of spying my own face there would be enough. Something to warm a man's bones in old age for sure!

Where do you see information related to a DVD release? Is there a release date to go along with this?
Edit: It seems March 19th is the date to look forward to. I too really look forward to this treasure and have spotted myself in a couple clips they've used in Ringo's (sometimes) monthly video updates on his official website.
