The Confederations Cup is basically a collection of friendlies organized into a tournament format. I don't really find it applicable in conversations about major tournaments.
Also, if you did look at Spain's recent friendly record, you would think they are a pretty average international team. That is obviously not the case.
All things considered, i would love to see England pull it out..(not likely, I know) I think that Spain and Germany reach the final because they are the most consistent teams. As far as clubs go, Red Devils all the way!! I despise Chelsea, although I really enjoy watching Torres when he doesn't suck. I lied him better at Liverpool. I also can't say how happy I am that Barcelona lost in the champions league. Knock em down a few pegs...

Another fan of Die Mannschaft, checking in. Ready for today's match -- I'll be heading to a Bavarian pub and getting some hefeweizens and maybe some Jägerschnitzel in me later on.
I'd love to see a Spain vs. Germany final. No mystery guests in this year's knockout stages. Even Greece won Euro in 2004.

I would kill for a good schnitzel, alas no German place in Tucson
flanzo you're a NY guy right? Have you ever been to a game at Red Bull Arena? If so, how is it?
Yeah, I had a great time. Soccer is pretty huge in Jersey (Bergen County is a big recruiting ground), so you basically get a mini-EPL crowd at the games. I am definitely going to try and hit up another game this summer.

Twitter tells me a whole bunch of RB fans racially abused a bunch of some other team's fans. Not quite sure on the details.
Never heard anything like this. I feel it'd be hard to be racially abusive in a crowd that's very mixed racially, though. I didn't see any at the game I went to, at least.
Hallo all my fellow Deutschland followers! ;D LOVE MY HOMELAND!!!
Im not going to pretend that I follow football all through the year, but I have a working knowledge of Euro, World Cup, EPL, and Bundisliga. That said, my sis has been keeping me abreast of the German dominance this Euro '12. Watched the Italy/England match yesterday from the pub, and this:

I really don't see any way the Azzurri can win, but I'll still be rooting for them. With Buffon on the back and Balotelli in the front, you never know.

Yeah I've heard Red Bull Arena is immaculate that's why I was curious.
Detroit doesn't have the market for an MLS team, which would add a 5th professional franchise to an already struggling local economy.

Yeah, RBA is gorgeous. And I think the MLS never got it's proper due for identifying they had a struggling league with poor attendance numbers and then gearing their stadiums for smaller crowds but cheaper, more personal experiences. They now have a higher attendance than the NHL & NBA on a per-game basis. Pretty impressive for a league no one expected to make it out of the first year or two.

Yeah plus they've successfully attracted passionate, loyal fans , especially with the 3 franchises in the Northwest. Seeing a game in Portland is on my wishlist for this next year.
Ohhhh yeah, I watched a Timbers game last year and their crowd looked straight out of the EPL. I would definitely love to go see a game there.
Red Bull fans aren't quite on that level (but, to be fair, they're competing with, like, 10 professional sports teams in the area, so they've done a pretty good job developing their fan base.

No love for Spain here, huh? I worry that they don't have the skill up front to win it all, but I'm not counting them out. Viva La Roja! Viva La Tiki-Taka!
If you then attempt to engage them about your favorite soccer team or talk about famous moments in soccer history, you are likely to be met with blank stares.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
