^how I feel when people talk about Phoenix headlining.
Phoenix is at least in the ball park. Shoe-in for Pre HL and they HAVE headlined Lolla.
If we're talking about people like Fleetwood Mac/Beck/Mumford and Sons not being headliners, I don't understand how Phoenix even gets tossed around. I can get behind the Pre-HL idea, but honestly? They don't even get played on the radio around here. Now, you could say the same about Arcade Fire, but they're also much bigger than Phoenix.
edit/ they were 6th on the Lolla lineup, that's a stretch to say they headlined.
The Strokes didn't end up headlining Bonnaroo either. Phoenix had a big spike in popularity in 2010/2011, but it seems to have died down a lot. Unless this new album somehow turns them into a huge group, I would be severely disappointed in Bonnaroo if they're at the top of the poster come February.
LOLLA 2010, Phoenix headlined opposite Green Day. Same slot as the Strokes and Arcade Fire.
Isn't that how Lolla is though? other acts playing during headliners such as Green Day? I'm not sure I would equate that to Pheonix being able to headline Roo, especially since they played Roo that same year and didn't headline.
