I graduated high school on the Coast and my friends that still live there but aren't into non-pop radio music (let alone the festival scene) were all "man, I bet you guys are geared up for that!" whenever Vanilla Ice/Maroon 5 were announced as headliners.

CPR fest has worse lineups than Gulfport Music Fest and Bayfest. I went to one of the early ones back in '98 just for Violent Femmes. That might be the only good band that they've ever booked.

Hey as far as that kind of festival is concerned I am all for it. Keep em coming, make them weekly. EDC Orlando the same weekend at Bear Creek was the greatest. Got to enjoy all my funky jams without underaged teenyboppers running around in animal hats being obnoxious. A Maroon5 fest at/near hangout is excellent. Keep some of the more obnoxious bros away
Just scrolled through my Jambase and came up with this: Rule out The xx (Prague) Alt-J (Euro) Ben Harper (Cali) P-Groove (Brock is finally going to rehab) Fleetwood Mac (Canada) Lana Del Ray (England) Heavy Pets (fest in FL, listed all 4 days) Explosions in the Sky (England) Clapton (England) JJ Grey and Mofro (GER) Joe Bonamassa (3 nights at Beacon) Depeche Mode (Euro) Motorhead (Mexico) Travelin' McCourys (upstate NY) Donna The Buffalo (NY) Blind Boys of Alabama (NE dates) Joe Cocker (AUS) Elton John (doing a big residency in Vegas, doubtful) Flaming Lips (start a tour in England on the 20th, unlikely) Tame Impala (closing up a North American tour in March, but not completely impossible, they're blowing up) Springsteen (Euro) fun. (will seemingly be in Euro, have a small break, but before/after break in euro) Black Angels (CA) Papadosio (CA) Lettuce (NE dates) Sigur Ros (London) Crystal Castles (Spain)
Gives a little bit of ideas on which smaller bands to rule out, as well as possible headliners to rule out completely.

Hello all, I'm a newb here on these here boards, but I've definitely done some navigating around these parts over the past year or so to get the general vibe of the attendees. I've been to the past 2 Hangouts, and my crew and I plan on going this year as well. If you saw a group of hippies walking around with camelbacks and a giant yellow finger while looking somewhat confused the past couple years, well my friends, that was me and my posse of misfits.
We camped out at the campground in 2011 and stayed at the Lighthouse in 2012. A room at the Lighthouse has been booked for this year as well. The scene on the beach and balconies at that place after the festival each night was straight up truly delightful. One of the friendliest environments I've ever been in. I don't know why I'm writing this now, but I just feel like sharing a common bond of love with you all for this event.
I'll be the first to admit that last year's lineup wasn't the greatest, but it didn't really matter at all, in my opinion. We still grooved like some animals. And like I said before, the general environment is just so god damn chill for the most part, although there was this one trippy dude that invited to take me and my lady to "Shakies" while we were zonked out on some never ending 24 hour acid. Being a keen observer of shadiness and whatnot , I decided it best that we not go. Thankfully we survived.
All that being said, some bands I would love to see down there this year, with them all being unlikely, would include: Alt-J, Tame Impala, Primus, MMJ, A$AP Rocky, Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar, Araabmuzik, Danny Brown, Big Boi, Grizzly Bear, Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, Umphrey's, STS9, Local Natives, Yeasayer, M83, MGMT, Purity Ring, Twin Shadow, Real Estate, Yo La Tengo, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall, Black Lips, Deerhunter, Titus Andronicus, Killer Mike, Man Man, Liars. Any of them would do. Ok. I'm done. Nice to meet you all. Sorry for talking so much.

Can rule all of these bands out.. rockontherange.com/pc.html Includes Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, smashing pumpkins
Good find. I think this def rules Soundgarden out unless they are playing Rock On The Range on the 19th, as they are playing in NJ on the 18th.
Smashing Pumpkins don't have any other dates up, so I don't think they can be ruled out yet. Colombus is 12 hrs from Hangout so they could easily make it. Don't know how I feel about the Pumpkins without Jimmy Chamberlin though!!

^^ wtf just happened??! This in no way can be good. Livenation owns Wanee and it is amazing so who knows.
"Sillerman. "Voodoo has been operated on as a sole practitioner on relatively small level, and we think it has upside not just in New Orleans but elsewhere. It's a fabulous name, amongst other things, so we think we'll be able to help Steve [Rehage], the owner and operator, take that to other markets."
Sillerman obviously never heard about Voodoo Memphis '05 lololol

I didn't have time to read the whole thing cause I am at work, but sounded fishy. More EDM at hangout?
Maybe so. Not real sure what it means aside from perhaps better pre-fest organization/advertisement from Voodoo Fest. And I never really cared about their failures in that regard since I always have a great time there. It was discussed in its thread, but there's no doubt that the Le Plur stage being the 2nd set of headliners is the way Voodoo's been leaning the last two years. And the plan as of a couple of months ago was to continue that trend.
