I've been to the 2011 and 2012 Hangouts and there were more frat boy types at least year's fest. A lot of them appeared to be there simply to "be there," and were talking their donkeys off during the shows, especially Uumphrey's. I tried to get a good position to tape the Futurebirds and some idiot walks up carrying a damn broom, hoisting it in the air like a damn idiot. Festival poles are one thing, but a broom?
I once saw a bro punch a hippy girl in the face at a Dave Matthews show (girl made me go) because he didn't like the way she was dancing. Ever since then I have had bad vibes about "the bro" crowds. Kid got his ass beat though so I guess karma?

Solidrock, both of Atlanta's college stations (91.1 and 88.5) are very good. Way better than ZEW. Sorry, Pablo.
They're funded by the government and public donors, therefore, they cater to whomever they wish no matter how small the demographic. ZEW is a commercial station and as such must serve as many people in the listening/license area as possible pursuant to gov. regulations, FCC, FTC, etc. So basically, you're comparing apples to broccoli (or NPR to the local news).

No, I'm comparing radio stations. ZEW, WREK, and WRAS are all radio stations. You play music, they play music, I can access all three on FM radios. I like the music they play better. I understand that there are reasons why they play stuff that caters to my tastes while you play Semisonic, but those reasons don't mean I'm going to grade you on separate criteria.
You're also making it sound like the government requires you to play a constrictive list of popular music for the knuckle-draggers, which isn't true. Throw some more acronyms at me if you want, but I'm not an idiot. Cheesed*ck.
Why are people suddenly convinced WSP is the Sunday closer? They're headlining Jazzfest, doing 2 shows at Wanee and playing in Alabama in July. Unless it is out of complete desperation to fill the slot, I see no reason why Hangout would book them with them playing 4 shows within a few hours in each direction this spring/summer. Not to mention radius clause issues with Jazzfest headliners.

I concur, doctor. The headliner is mysterous, so it must be the most mysterous man in all of showbiz: BUCKETHEAD. book that shiz.

Glad he got his ass kicked. Sounds like he deserved it. Forgot to mention that last year DMB headlined Hangout and the bros and broEttes were there in force. I'd prefer a larger percentage of "hippy" types because they're usually more mellow and not as talkative

Widespread Panic is just that kickass! Wouldn't matter if WP was playing at The Wharf in July the spreadheads like myself would catch both their HMF show and show at The Wharf. Widespread Panic sells tickets!

I just feel like Panic is the universal backup plan for festivals. They're like the frost bitten bagel bites in the back of the freezer...they're always there if you need em, but they're nothin special.
Seen too many uninspired Panic shows.
I'd hope after waiting this long, the 3rd HLer is someone more exciting or less predictable than Panic.
I've been a lurker on here a couple days. Just decided to join. Although I'd personally like to see Mumford on the beach, GoPensacola.com's FB page said this today:
"Sorry, but while we don't know who it is, we HAVE been told, in so many words, that it is NOT Mumford. We'd like to see them, too."
and, " We honestly do not know who it is -- not hedging, not keeping a secret, we just plain don't know. We only know that it is NOT Mumford."
Bringing WSp at this point would be a loss for a 4th year fest on the beach claiming they can play with the big boys. If HMF wants to play with roo, they need green day or muse- forget any legacy acts except bob dylan. TOur ends in late April. I say Green Day. Like it or not- GD is huge. Top 5 band of the 90s

This is pretty funny, thinking Green Day or Muse would make Hangout a top tier festival and WSP wouldn't. You know Hangout is in the South right? Green Day would actually piss more people off than would please anyone, and no one in the south even knows who Muse is. There is much different demographic between Hangout and other festivals like Lollapalooza or Coachella. WSP would probably actually be a better get for Hangout because WSP fans are centralized around the south, travel to see their band, and don't give a shiz how much money they spend while doing so. Sorry but no one is going to travel from Atlanta just for a Green Day or Muse add, those people already bought their tickets because KOL is there. A ton of people would buy tickets to see Panic on the beach, bc Panic fans are a lot less likely to go to a festival if Panic's not there. This is the reason Panic headlines Hangout and Bonnaroo but not Outside Lands. Or why Pheonix is headlining Coachella and 6th on the list at Beale Street.
BTW Even though I want Panic I don't care if they are there or not cause I'm already seeing them 18 times from mid April to mid July.
Panic is a ticket selling plan, not a backup plan. Backup plans don't do four night runs at red rocks. All the haters are the ones who love what 'roo has become (jam free) as opposed to what it was. However, WS is not headlining this year because they are not touring from may 4th to waka...it's pretty simple. Bands that size don't hop in a van and go play one offs. If the HL'er is anyone with already announced dates, then i'll assume there was a scramble....furthur, wsp, mum,...any headliner of another fest.....remember, paul simon was a late add and nobody saw that coming.

^While I don't think Panic is headlining, they have done random one day festival appearances that don't really fit into summer or spring tour. When they played Hangout last time it was listed as "May Dates" on Panic's website instead of Spring or Summer tour. My other theory is that the reason they worded the lineup announcement on the 6th as "artist additions" and mentions nothing about a headliner, is bc they are only going to announce all the other non headlining acts then after WSP's Oak Mountain tickets go on sale on 3/22 they will announce Panic is headlining.

Green Day?! No. That's extremely laughable. They haven't been relevant in almost 15 years.
Panic is a solid choice. You do relize that bonnaroo is panics fest, right? Superfly started it as an alternative to all the Phish fests -- and wanted it to be Panic's fest.
Panic is a good pickup, but I honestly don't think it's them.
Phish dates are around the corner as well, could it possibly be them?
