Going out on a limb: What about My Bloody Valentine? Are they "headliner" worthy?
No. On so many levels. We have a better chance of getting Dave again. This is hangout fest, not mayhem festival. I know the lineup is takin forever but lets not get desperate and weird meow.
Back to the rock band discussion. I think this one will be harder than the jam band. In my mind for jam band were getting either furthur, trey or moe. moe. is probably the cheapest.
Panic isn't happening (Wanee, Waka, All Good) and Phish is doing Phish Fest X this summer, and they turned down hangout last time Due to super ball. Mule is playin Wanee, so throw them onto All Goods lineup as well. Allman Brothers do Wanee and Peach fest- nahh. Can't see it.
We could always get grass jammed again maybe with YMSB, can't see anyone in that arena with a name as big as SCI. RRE? Greensky? Nah. If they're calling MumSons our jam they're crazy.
..So why does Muse continue to come up? Does everyone believe they are withholding a month of U.S. dates just to protect a Hangout appearance that would be at the end of their tour and run right up to their Euro tour?....certainly looks to me like they'll be in rainy London when we're in sunny GS.
I would watch less of Green Day than I did RHCP which was 3 songs. KoL would be less than that.
I will be surprised to see Mum and Avetts on sam bill.
The HO lineup is always comparable to 'Roo's, there is just less of it due to being less than half the size. In fact, the last two years, I would say it's the 'roo people who should look around and say why aren't we getting more for our buck. I think the HO has done a great job given capacity restraints.
I doubt muse too but until the lineup is posted or they post something else they're still on the table. Just as with Green Day (and I can find as many reasons why not to book Green Day without even mentioning schedules).
Check Avetts tour dates, pretty positive that Sunday date screams Hangout. They're in the South till the 18th then have a 7 day break. Mum is (from what I have heard) a lock.
Personally I'm hoping for Paul | Janes | TAB (phish is too far fetched in my head)

They need people for the kids stage. That's where they'll be
Been thinking about solid rocks post. Dudes got a point. I think it's time to count muse out. They're gonna take that month to rest and be with family, that's their only sizable break until August. They're not gonna put logistics to Europe to 2 days.

Muse was a strong rumor after black friday and I am going to continue grabbing hold of it because I am too stubborn to accept that we're getting KoL'd. I hate Muse too for the record, but I kinda want to see that hetti new light show.

Muse is still a definite possibility. Muse lead man is married to KAte Hudson, which means they might go to an exotic island, shack up in their mansion in the hills of LA. It could be a break, with hangout being the start before the trek back to Europe. I would not read into this break in dates. Muse on the beach with their light show would be insane, only issue, HO will probably limit some of it secondary to logistics. But I agree that KoL may make more sense when taking schedules into consideration esp with being billed at Gov. Ball. As far as jam bands go; I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade. But is a jam band in the top 3 necessary. In the top 6-8- they need two for sure. So is further billable above Muse/Mum/KoL type bands. I know we are talking Grateful Dead, but the modern bands will move more tix to the basic music fest goer, and do better with light shows at night. We could be looking at Legacy (Macca, Petty), Muse/Mum/KoL (pick two), Further, TAB/Moe., Avetts, A big DJ (not Aoki, Bassnectar or Avicii), Jim James, hopefully the Shins (showing up at bottle rock in CA the week before)
The break in dates is less of an issue than the fact that hangout ends on the 19th and their tour begins on the 22nd. With such an elaborate light show, and they're Muse. Part of their "muse-ness" is the lights they won't not have their light show. So you're looking at getting everything taken down on the 19th after final set ends, then moved to euro in 2 days??

Maybe Muse has a set of back-up lights they can use? They wouldn't have to worry about moving all the primary lights back to Euro in two days.
Typically they don't remove the lights till the last day. RHCP. Flips. Jack. Dave. All had their lights up till the last day
I'm not saying they're not going to happen I am just saying I think some of the other bands are more likely. But from y'all's response to my Devils-Advocating it appears I am a moron haha
I have only heard bad things about Muse's performance at Voodoo when they played previously.
A lot of folks hated it, a lot of folks loved it. I loved it. Went into the show knowing very little about the band's music, and had a great time. Now it is absolutely a glitzy, glammy, overproduced pretty light show complete with glittery jackets and musicians wearing sunglasses. But hey I can dig it.
