Muse is still a definite possibility. Muse lead man is married to KAte Hudson, which means they might go to an exotic island, shack up in their mansion in the hills of LA. It could be a break, with hangout being the start before the trek back to Europe. I would not read into this break in dates. Muse on the beach with their light show would be insane, only issue, HO will probably limit some of it secondary to logistics. But I agree that KoL may make more sense when taking schedules into consideration esp with being billed at Gov. Ball. As far as jam bands go; I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade. But is a jam band in the top 3 necessary. In the top 6-8- they need two for sure. So is further billable above Muse/Mum/KoL type bands. I know we are talking Grateful Dead, but the modern bands will move more tix to the basic music fest goer, and do better with light shows at night. We could be looking at Legacy (Macca, Petty), Muse/Mum/KoL (pick two), Further, TAB/Moe., Avetts, A big DJ (not Aoki, Bassnectar or Avicii), Jim James, hopefully the Shins (showing up at bottle rock in CA the week before)

The break in dates is less of an issue than the fact that hangout ends on the 19th and their tour begins on the 22nd. With such an elaborate light show, and they're Muse. Part of their "muse-ness" is the lights they won't not have their light show. So you're looking at getting everything taken down on the 19th after final set ends, then moved to euro in 2 days??

Maybe Muse has a set of back-up lights they can use? They wouldn't have to worry about moving all the primary lights back to Euro in two days.

Typically they don't remove the lights till the last day. RHCP. Flips. Jack. Dave. All had their lights up till the last day
I'm not saying they're not going to happen I am just saying I think some of the other bands are more likely. But from y'all's response to my Devils-Advocating it appears I am a moron haha
I have only heard bad things about Muse's performance at Voodoo when they played previously.
A lot of folks hated it, a lot of folks loved it. I loved it. Went into the show knowing very little about the band's music, and had a great time. Now it is absolutely a glitzy, glammy, overproduced pretty light show complete with glittery jackets and musicians wearing sunglasses. But hey I can dig it.
I guess I'm in the minority here who would like KoL to be there....
You are, but i'm right there with you. They kicked ass at Roo in 2010, and that show made me a fan of theirs. I would love to see them again now that I know their whole discography back to front. If only Caleb can hold it together and not be a sloppy drunk mess.
KOL @ Roo 10 was absolute garbage. I can't believe they even get to headline anything after Melty McMelterson wigged out on stage multiple times.
Sorry you didn't enjoy it. I thought there was nothing that could top that performance...until Jay-Z proved me wrong the next night. All in all, Roo 2010 had one of the best lineups for me personally that I could have ever asked for.

Actually, I don't even know any bands that would play mayhem festival- the point I was light-heartedly making was that they're not the type of band for Hangout. So, my apologies. Keep being rude if you'd like though.

You were wrong, take your medicine. Don't be an ass.

I have heard MBV before. They're not the type of band for hangout- my enjoyment of the band aside I think you can agree with the fact that they're not that type of band.

If Coheed and cambria can play hangout, MBV can too. You're wrong. Embrace your wrongness. Relish in it.

We were talking about headliners. Not undercard. You're right- I was wrong- I should have looked up what mayhem fest was before writing it

What kind of music do you think they play? I really think you're thinking of a different band.
Phi isn't the only person to make that mistake.

My only point- and yes, I get that I utilized the wrong festival to make it- was that MBV would not be a hangout headliner. I'm relishing in my wrongness. I'm into jam bands, I am ignorant to anything that would be straight rock/metal/alternative or whatever genre you want to categorize it as the point is not in the semantics the point is- well that doesn't even matter.
But I was wrong- so lets talk headliners now, eh? ( I'm a woman admitting I was wrong, this is huge)

Pretty sure if you think MBV is like Coheed than you're also thinking of Bullet for my Valentine.
Everyone wants headliners but the undercard is where the best performances really are. What undercard bands are fest goers excited about? Me personally I would like to see The Joy Formidable again. They absolutely shredded the stage at Lolla 2011; breaking guitars and shizz. If you haven't heard them before they are a modern day Garbage with a much more stable lead woman. Even smaller- the Bright Light Social Hour would be cool to see. If you like some jam band with a touch of electro they are right down your alley.
