From Tool's website... "I was hoping to be able to throw some of you a bone the first week of the New Year, but for certain reasons this announcement has been pushed back a month. Therefore, look for a news post that will be exciting to some towards the end of the first week in February."

Same time Hangout likely posts their lineup?
I would cream myself, but I think it's just a coincidence. I'm sure they'll be announcing the date of their album release and/or some tour dates.

Fun are doing a small festival in the Northeast in May, it hasn't been announced yet but they're headlining. Wouldn't be surprised to see them do a string of festival dates... Possibly hangout?
I hope I didn't sound excited about this. I actually hate those guys, but they're popular.

I know this is selfish, but I would love to hear confirmation that the lineup did not include Paul McCartney or Tool. Mainly, b/c I am probably not attending, but if either of those happen I will be walking around asking folks for a ticket at the gates.

I am glad that you added the second part of this. The fact that this band that has had 2 popular songs out is potentially headlining a festival speaks volumes. yikes. They'd be a nice afternoon filler, love to have them during a set I'm into to slim down the crowd.

Anywhere between noon and two at best IMO. Anything past that is vomit-inducing.
I don't see how Macca is impossible. Look at Rothbury 2009, Dylan and The Dead, among other big name artists (Willie Nelson, YMSB, SCI, Mule, Crowes, Claypool, ZPZ)...and that was only their second year, and I don't think that Roth was as big as HO is, or else it'd still be around.

I really don't think Dylan and McCartney are a good comparison here.

To get both Dylan+The Dead is a big deal. And throw Warren, Claypool, Robinson, Zappa, Willie, ect on top of that for a festivals second year?? Thats HUGE. Yeah we can talk about how Dylan isn't relevant anymore all day but he's still a legend.
My point is just that we can't rule out Macca just because its HO's 4th year, or just because 'Roo is getting him. Until he is booked for something else, he's a possibility.
Thats what I am saying. If I was an artist and someone said "hey, wanna play this festival in the middle of bumQuack, with one source of running water that turns brown by mid-afternoon friday, and few to zero trees and more mud than you can imagine" That doesn't sound too good. Someone says "hey, play this fest on the beach" ....yeah, okay
So? How Tennessee is any better than Bama? I'm from ATL, just trying to get an idea of how geography has anything to do with this
In all fairness, Roo is 60 miles from Nashville, the second most important music city in the country after NYC.
I don't agree with the idea that McCartney can't play Hangout because its in Alabama. But I'm sure Hangout being on a beach vs Roo being in rural TN has nothing to do with an artists' decision to play a festival. I'd say proximity to a major music city is a bigger consideration.
