Before yesterday, I had never seen a live performance by Muse, but I never liked them. I think I have even said, "I hate Muse" before. Tons of my friends, whose music opinion I respect, also do not like them. BUT yesterday, I saw them on Jools Holland and I loved the three songs they played. I didn't just like it, I loved it. Is this just a small sample size or do they have a bunch of good material? Why do people hate them? Why did I hate them? Am I forgetting something I saw that I didn't like in the past? Do they have Kanye tendencies which render their talent useless? With all this said, I would be really happy with those four at the top...the only thing is that Mumford on that secondary stage would be a nightmare crowd-wise. The busiest Which Stage show I've ever seen in 8 years of Roo was that Mumford show a couple of years ago. Even backstage was packed to the gills. Just one year earlier, they played 'That Tent' to a few thousand folks.
I'm a hip kid (hipster bro hybrid) i kno about yolo and skateboarding and music u guys r squares on the computer looking down on md but lol it's ok i won't give u a beer at are tailgate (which will b the top tailgate @ roo) we have 500 Jell-O shots
Heard from someone who knows things in Birmingham that Tom Petty AND the Heartbreakers was playing the Hangout too. Hope we hear "Heartbreakers Beach Party". Yea!
Mumford not a top 3 at hangout bodes poorly for my bet with Phi.
It's a good thing you have gobs of money.
yeah if i wasn't ballin' so hard i'd be worried. my only issue is monday is the day i usually count my stacks, if I get too distracted by these piles of green i might forget about the bonnaroo presale.

Those 3 tracks they did on Jools Holland this year are the first 3 tracks off their new album "The 2nd Law".

The thought of Mumford as a second tier act is not accurate. They are the only current rock band that sells albums like pop and country stars do. Babel spent multiple weeks on top of the billboard charts (still top twenty after 2 months), until Taylor Swift released her junk. If Mumford is at Hangout they will be the Saturday or Sunday night headliner. Muse on Friday makes good sense with stage set-up and their schedule. Mumford/Petty on Saturday with the other headlining on Sunday with Phish playing a 3-4 hour set before(like Cheese). That would make for a very solid set of headliners, and fairly cheap on the grand scheme of headliners. This would allow hangout to stack the mid card, which is the most important part of a quality festival. ANybody who loves to go to festivals will agree that it is the daytime acts and the subheadliners that make festivals go. Headliners are the whip cream and cherry but the mid card is where the value is.

Assuming the rumors are true (which is still a big assumption at this point), I have no idea how they schedule all 4 of those acts. Each of them would be a disaster on the second stage.
2/26 Ra Ra Riot
3/12 Animal Collective & Dan Deacon
4/11 Weird Al
4/18 The Fritz
4/20 Snarky Puppy
4/24 Les Claypool's Duo De Twang
4/26 Beats Antique (Volapalooza)
5/7 Boris
5/13 Father John Misty w/ Adam Green & Binki Shapiro
5/17-5/19 Hangout Fest
6/6 Postal Service (looking for a pit ticket - PM me!)
6/7 Postal Service (pit)
6/8 Postal Service (pit)
6/13-6/16 Bonnaroo
6/27 Lake Street Drive
10/25-10/27 MOEMS

I dunno. The second stage's area isn't really any smaller than the main stage. And there were probably more people there for SCI and FLips this year that there was for Jack White. A few more were at RHCP and DMB because there was nothing else going on. Also, Mumford makes many of our weeniees soft. They schedule a punk/metal act on that other stage at the same time and it frees up a bunch of space (Motorhead vs Flips in 2011 and Flogging Molly vs SCI this year as an example). Plus maybe they do something different with the VIP area for that stage this year and open all of that space up for everyone else. They will figure it out.

There ain't no Quackking way Phish would ever open up for Mumford and Sons. Are you Quackking delusional???? 2013 will be Phish's 30th anniversary. Mumford would be fine opening for Phish on the 2nd stage. That would be the equivalent of My Morning Jacket opening for Panic last year. MMJ headlined a night of Voodoo in 2010 and was the fest headliner at Wakarusa last year.
If Mumford headlines they will def have someone with balls playing on another stage. I regret leaving Shpongle early for RHCP limpweenie'd set this year.

or The Black Keys opening for Paul Simon. Mumford into Tom Petty on sunday. If these rumors are true, that's how it's going down. That way it'll be QOTSA into Muse on friday and Primus into Phish on Saturday.

I'd rather have Primus into Muse and QOTSA into Phish.
I won't be surprised if there is another jam act like there was last year that plays two sets like SCI did this year. The only thing is that they need to put an act on the main stage between the two sets as an alternative.

Phish is huge- four sold out shows in NYC. Not arguing Phish v Mumson, cause that is a loss. Just don't be surprised with Mumson playing under the stars. I prefer the line-up with Mumson as subheadliner for Petty or Phish. Plus a four hour set like SCI did last year is clearly a sign of respect, so as a Phish fan I would much rather have four hours instead of 2 or 3 hours. Not delusional, just optimistic.

In 2011 they had after shows on the actual fest grounds and it was glorious. This year the city of gulf shores and their geriatric residents put forth some measures to enforce a sound curfew. So the after shows had to be at venues that were out of the gulf shores area. Which meant that you had to drive to Orange Beach a couple miles east. The Keg Lounge, Outer Hang, Happy Harbour, and the Undertow Bar were the venues that participated. I believe the same thing is going to happen in 2013, but at least a new venue was just built over there and will definitely be involved in late nite shows during hangout: The Gulf www.facebook.com/thegulfal

What about getting house rentals nearby? Are there any within walking distance (<1 mile)? Meyerre doesn't seem to have any within that range, and vrbo isn't looking promising so far.
