Anyone else book already? I booked Phoenix suites west (not to be confused with some other phoenix place that was 5 miles away) which is .5 miles from the beach. Should be an 8 minute walk and it was cheaper than their travel packages with 4 people.
Nice! The place I always book through Meyer is less than $150/night after fees and split with 3-4 other people it's less than $50/night per person. It's an older 2 br place and not exactly the nicest condo, but it's a just over half a mile (less than a 10 min walk) to the fest site and just a quick stroll across the street to the beach by Sea N Suds where there's always late night beach parties after the fest! Not to mention it's next to Waffle House.

I had a lot of fun at Deluna last year, and the lineup wasn't even that great. Other than the headliners, this lineup is way better from top to bottom. There's a lot of stuff I want to see here:
Kings of Leon TAB The Black Crowes Slightly Stoopid Ellie Goulding Bloc Party Gov't Mule Jim James Public Enemy moe. The Revivalists Anders Osborne (missed at Deluna) The Bright Light Social Hour
And those are just the ones I haven't seen! The Shins, Bassnectar, The Roots, Passion Pit, Galactic, Grouplove, Moon Taxi, and twenty one pilots are all bands that I know bring it live too. I wouldn't mind seeing Tom Petty too, but since he's gonna be at Roo too, I might skip him. They have others on during HL'ers right? Hopefully they put Bassnectar on at the same time. I'm gonna try to get some friends to go, volunteer, and get a cheap hotel. College kids can only afford so many fests.
Upcoming shows:
4/18 - Zeds Dead
4/27 - STS9
4/30 - Suicidal Tendencies
5/1 - The Black Crowes
5/2 - A Day to Remember
5/3 - Smashing Pumpkins
5/8 - Phoenix
5/10 - Borgore
5/11 - Clutch
5/16-19 - Hangout Music and Arts Festival
5/25 - Sunset Music Festival
5/26 - Yngwie Malmsteen
6/3 - Killswitch Engage
6/7 - Fleetwood Mac
6/13-16 - BONNAROO

Yeah, staying at the regatta. First condo next to the fest going east. PUMPED!
It doesn't look like there will be more than a handful of additions based on the number of acts in the initial lineup. Just my .02.
It's hard to know for sure, because I just did a quick count and there was quite a bit of variance in number of acts between 2011 and 2012. 2012 had 51, and 2011 had 64. We're right around 50 right now. I'd guess just the added headliner and some comedians.
Something worth noting: the last two lines of this year's lineup are very small. Those are the kind of bands they announced late last year to play the small stage inside of the Hangout restaurant. Most of those 5th stage bands never made the poster, and they aren't even listed on the Past Lineups page (including Space Capone, who is actually on the poster this year). Last year's full count was actually 59 if you include those bands, and that's without the kid performers. Here's last year's schedule for reference: lineup.hangoutmusicfest.com/events/2012/05/20/
There will still probably be 10 or so additions. It's also possible they ditched the kids stage and will be running smaller bands inside the Hangout all day. I would be happy with that, because a lot of those lower tier acts are pretty solid. It would be nice to catch Chancellor Warhol or Space Capone while someone like Slightly Stoopid is playing a beach stage.

They only had an act on another stage during Jack White (STS9) and RHCP (Shpongle) last year. DMB (the sunday headliner which is what Petty will most likely be) went unopposed.

Staying at Island Winds West, which is about 20 yards from the front gate, going west into Gulf Shores. It was super convienent last year. And if we got tired, we could hear the main stage fine from our balcony.

To answer an earlier question that was posted some pages back, their biggest lineup was ~63 bands, so they have room for about 12 more if they were to match it. It seems a lot like that year's lineup too, more bands, but weaker undercard imo. Last year there was barely an undercard, but only ~51 bands.
And those are just the ones I haven't seen! The Shins, Bassnectar, The Roots, Passion Pit, Galactic, Grouplove, Moon Taxi, and twenty one pilots are all bands that I know bring it live too. My guess is that Bassnectar will play Friday night opposing Kings of Leon with Petty playing Saturday night opposing somebody nobody's ever heard of.

Tom Petty is probably closing this biitch out unopposed, babe. And on a technicality KoL qualifies as the saturday rock headliner. None of the other big EDM acts have opposed the headliners the previous two years, but it could happen. I think Kendrick Lamar will oppose one of the headliners. He seems perfect to close that da xborx tent.
I'm just hoping the 3rd headliner comes way out of left field and surprises everyone. Fck Mumford n Sons, GNR. There are very select few names that could really save this fest, Further, Outkast, Incubus to name some. Personally i wouldnt mind the Black Keys one bit
lol @ Incubus. Black Keys ain't happening for like the 10th time. Jazzfest don't like to share their headliners.

After absorbing the lineup, it's pretty solid and well-rounded. Nice to see some quality rap acts for a change. The EDM looks solid and not overwhelming, which is a good thing. Jim James! Some pretty interesting acts such as Bloc Party, Dirty Projectors, and Lissie. The bottom four lines are filled with bands that seem talented from a quick listen. Brassft Punk has potential to be good. There is that big turd sitting at the top middle of the lineup but I've never seen Petty, so I like that. The lineup looks pretty navigable with my kids, too.

There's still nothing to suggest that righteousfront knows a damn thing. Here's what he wrote:
An act from Vermont, an act from Britain, a surprise revival of an early-mid 90's "rock" band who none of y'all have mentioned yet, a famous offspring of a famous Caribbean islander, and a lead singerless lead guitarless rebranding of a classic mainstay in psychedelia.
The last one is obviously Furthur, who isn't on the lineup. But we also don't have a "surprise revival of an early-mid 90's" band, either. The Black Crowes are hardly a surprise, since they've reunited before and even played Hangout in 2010. Not to mention the fact that they've had dates scheduled for a long time, and they were mentioned in this thread already.
Who's the famous offspring? Who's the act from Britain...Ellie Goulding, all the way down on the 4th line? The only one that came true was TAB, and he was probably suggesting Phish anyway.
That guy was just guessing. Don't read anything into it.

We're staying at the Island Sunrise, which I guess is also pretty close. It's on the opposite side of the fest from some of the other condos, from maps I've seen. I'm hoping it's a money spot.
