Avetts Bros, Band of Horses would really help me out personally. But they haven't asked me for help yet. Also a headliner with a new album would be great. I feel like this a 90s rewind festival.
The headliners are ok... And the second tier bands aren't bad either, it's the smaller bands I'm bummed about. Revivalists, moon taxi, anders, and galactic all play around here all the time.
The "techno" lineup is lackluster compared to oakenfold and kaskade. I really enjoyed that tent last year.
I've been checking out a lot of these bands I haven't really heard of and so far I'm not overly impressed.
Kings of Leon will be fun, I think. I'm not really a fan, but I like that around comes sundown album. And I think hearing some of those songs at sunset will be great.
I'll have a blast regardless, I'm just disappoints with a lot of the smaller acts.
Bad luck on Hangout's part that EDC NYC picked 5/17-18. For most EDM acts, it's a no-brainer: a jam/indie/alternative/classic rock fest or EDC?
I thought Hangout was building some good momentum with EDM acts after the past two years. I was really hoping for Knife Party and someone like deadmau5 or Tiesto.
5/16-19: HANGOUT
5/25: Dillinger Escape Plan
5/30: Andrew W.K. w/ Tony Clifton
6/1: Big Boi
6/13-16: BONNAROO
6/29: Bob Dylan, Wilco, MMJ
6/30: The Grandmothers of Invention
7/11: Seinfeld
7/20: Living Colour
8/1: Mastodon w/ Machine Head
8/7: Melvins
9/5: Iron Maiden w/ Megadeth
10/2: The Legendery Pink Dots
11/1-3: VOODOO
11/14-17: BEAR CREEK
I was possibly looking at hangout this year but this makes it easy. The lineup isn't strong enough to get me there. It's decent, and a few nice acts there and the beach but there isn't an act that pushes me over the top to go.
Disappointing, but I'm alright with it. Maybe I'll add deLuna if that lineup is good
So who's the third chevy stage closer? TAB, Shins, and Black Crowes? Seems like Black Crowes would be better suited to play the main stage before the headliner to me. We could get one more big name unless they let Assnectar close chevy which I don't see happening if they didn't let Skrilley Bear do that last year. Here's hoping for one more big name besides the mystery headliner.
Black Crowes definitely don't feel right in that spot. I'd like to see The Roots close it down again, but they're 10th billed. All of the hip hop will probably play the tent anyway. There is not nearly enough untz to fill 3 days worth of tent spots.
I bet Bassnectar plays against the mystery headliner.
After my mean post to Kings Of Leon a few pages back... I will be nice.
I have established a tolerable set list for you:
Joe's Head Genius Taper Jean Girl Soft Crawl (their best song IMO) Manhattan Revelry On Call Camaro Back down south Beach Side (Just cause the name) I want you Pyro
Eh-core: Sex on fire ( why not ) Notion
They have some songs with good basslines and cool sounds. I am never really a fan of his voice, wish it was distorted or something.
also on spotify it says related bands: MGMT ummmm....
I'm pretty sure it all depends on the third headliner. Advance tickets will sellout without that name, but not all of regular GA.
The beach sells this fest. Not the headliners. That's my opinion, and i'm sticking to it.
Then why is DeLuna fest being cancelled after having a lineup better than hangout's last year? Apparently people would rather go to Hotlanta and see waaay less bands than go to a beach fest. Hotels in p'cola were WAAAAAAYYY f'n cheaper than gulf shores and surrounding areas too.

Curious as to how in the world you think that? Unless you like the undercards a ton.

Because DeLuna is in September and school starts backs. hangout is right after school lets out.
Plus, Pensacola island sucks. You're basically stranded on that small island.

Everything is as true as it gets, but better lineup? Huh?

Arguing about who had the better lineup with people that either: (1) only went to one of either hangout or DeLuna (2) is younger than 30 (3) didn't go to many fests last year besides hangout (oblivious to the festival whore artists of 2012) (4) or are simply huge fans of RHCP and DMB (5) only post in the hangout thread on infroroo, have the word hangout in their username, etc (6) are incapable of listening to reason is a waste of my mawfawkin time. It'd be like the equivalent of trying to talk one of my cats into doing the dishes. roll tide?
The fact is that my biased opinion is better than most everyone else's here.

I'm going to Hangout this year - for the first time - with a group of 6-7 people, and we have a condo within walking distance. That said/written, I've been visiting this thread nearly non stop for a while, and it's kind of a box of suck. The DeLuna vs. Hangout stuff, on the day Hangout dropped its lineup, reinforces that feeling for me.

Personally, I'm excited about this year - and hopefully they fill out the lineup with some solid adds. I don't have blinders on, meaning I recognize this isn't the greatest lineup ever, but for me it it's solid with the potential to get even better.
But really, Public Enemy?? As much as I'd love to hear something a rant about Jews and Gays.... no thanks.....it is 2013 isn't it? Get this garbage out of here.
Way too over the top, amateur trolling

Right right, guess they've never said anything about my people, like we are behind all evil in the world. Or support Farrakhan. Don't let the music blind you. I'd say the same sh*t about Morrissey too. Good music and shizzy worldviews don't balance each other out.

Don't worry. Once you get there, take your shoes off, grab a beer and park yourself in front of a stage this will all be forgotten. Then, on Sunday night, when the fireworks are going off you're going to think "holy shiz, i wonder who will be here next year. i can't wait."

Anyone else book already? I booked Phoenix suites west (not to be confused with some other phoenix place that was 5 miles away) which is .5 miles from the beach. Should be an 8 minute walk and it was cheaper than their travel packages with 4 people.
