I bought my tickets at a charity auction and they were listed as VIP. When I received my confirmation yesterday it says they are guest passes. I opened the attachment and it says I have been approved for two photo passes. I have searched around but I am still not sure what this really means. If anyone could give me an idea of what this is I would greatly appreciate it, as I don't know if I should be happy that I got these instead of standard VIP tickets or if I should try to get what I bid on. This place has really been awesome as far as finding information on just about anything roo and has done nothing but get me more excited to go for the first time. Thanks!

I had guest last year, and found that VIP and guest are different, but both have their perks. the plus sides to guest are: the campsite is in the only wooded area of the farm.. so you actually have trees and shade.. this is an amazing thing.. you have access to the guest area which has catering, a sweet tent to hang out in, TVs yo watch concerts they're broadcasting. they do the interviews with bands for the roo radio station In this area so every once in a while you'll see some artists walking around. this all takes place behind the which stage, and you get to walk past the which stage entrance on your way to the guest area, so another artist sighting possibility. you will have real showers at your beckoned call any time you want, but you will not have real bathrooms.. guests still only have Porto potties. you have access to the which stage bleachers.. I'm not sure if you can get on the VIP hill in what though.
you can't get in the VIP lounges either.
that's all I can think of really... the shaded campsite was really the biggest plus for me. anything else I'm forgetting? you'll def have a great time either way. you'll be closer to centeroo than VIP camp also.
I've gone VIP 3yrs and Media/Guest once. The perks of a free Guest pass are nice but limited. If you were bidding on VIP and that's truly what you want, then I would suggest not settling on Guest. Here's why:
*Guest pass still requires you to sit through hours of traffic; VIP private exit = no lines, no wait. *Guest pass gives you limited access to areas open to Media; VIP = more exclusive locations. *Guest pass lets you get close to the backstage areas, but not actually backstage. *VIP has a private party on Thursday night with free food & beer and an exclusive band show. *VIP has more perks (A/C tents, viewing areas at What & Which, shorter lines, etc.) than a Guest can access.

I beg to differ on the hours of traffic.. guest last year had private directions/ entrance thru KOA. I waited not more than one minute. don't know if you were guest last year or years before but if so, it's changed. no wait and private entrance.

I was wondering about this too. We got guest passes from winning at Groovebug and then we are getting the upgrade to VIP. I have no idea what all this means or how that will even work.

I do have a dslr and I agree that it would be awesome to be able to get in the photo pit and all, but I am worried that when they realize I do not have any press credentials they will just take that portion away and leave me with a standard guest pass. Either way I know I'll have a great time. I am still debating this in my head. Thank you to those of you who have replied, you have been incredibly helpful.
The email says guest passes for everyone. It is truly horrible wording on Bonnaroo's part because they have guest camping. I first received the email and was giddy thinking I had been upgraded. When I opened the attachment though it just said 2- Patron. Got my bands already and they are for GA. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a photo pass still considered GA camping? All it will do is get you into the photo pit and access to the media tent. They won't take your band away. It has already been approved and you will not have to validate anything. If you bid on VIP tickets I believe you were mislead there is nothing Bonnaroo can do about it though. In said email talking about delivery of your guest credentials it said if you have any problems to contact the person that made the request for you and not them directly. I would contact the people that put on the charity auction but there is probably nothing they can do about it either. They either mislead you or were mistaking as to what kind of credentials they were selling. Really don't think anything can be done. At least it was for charity though.

The first email I got after the auction closed was from superfly and that attachment talked about the perks of vip and was a voucher spelling out everything included (i.e. the Thursday show, ac tents, etc.) if at the end of all of this if I end up camping in GA I will have a great time for a good cause. I emailed the guy from superfly that sent the email, just to clarify what I was getting hopefully I will get an answer back sometime soon. My email from today says I have to pick up my wristbands at the will call located At the conference center.
Guest used to be much better than VIP, but they have improved VIP so much over the years and degraded the guest camping that VIP is clearly better now. That being said, the huge guest hangout area with hammocks, food, and bars right between What and Which is the greatest place on the farm. I absolutely adore that place.

Nothing was better than being able to pee right there during Which Stage shows.... so convenient...

www.bohemianleanings.com/2011/05/bonnaroo-guest-tickets.html We won Guest Passes this year too! I think we are gonna see what its all about. From what Ive read its Prime Camping and shaded. We are gonna set up a smaller place in tent only, if we can so we can chill with friends in the campground.
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I'm curious to get an opinion from anyone who has done Guest in the last two years (2013 or 2014). Especially if its any better than VIP in terms of amenities and access.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
I did Guest camping last year, but have never done VIP. Feel free to PM me with any questions!
Better yet, ask and answer publicly so we can all benefit from any info you might find relevant, since there are lots of questions but fewer answers about this. VIP is not an option for me personally, but a friend just told me that someone at work is expecting to get a couple/few guest passes and might not want some or all of them. Not sure yet, but I'll be happy to read anything ya'll post, since the thread has already been revived.
First time going and very excited! I've searched for a couple hours now and can't find the answer to my question, so this looked like the best place to post.
My friend and I are both flying into Nashville, she's renting a truck and we are riding to the festival. She is going VIP, and I am GA. Ideally I'd like to camp in tent only since I wont have a car anyway. My question is, how do I get there? Do I hop out of the car when she gets to the VIP tollbooth and walk? Is there somewhere before the tollbooth I need to lug my gear from? Are there options for people entering the festival grounds on foot who don't have cars?

You have to have on a Vip wrist band to get to the tollbooth. So that won't work. VIP takes a different route in. So your best option might be to take a shuttle at the airport. They will take you straight to tent camping only.

I've looked around for a while but can't seem to find the answer to my questions. If you have guest passes but not a guest car pass...are you still able to camp in guest camping? I would take a shuttle or uber from the airport most likely. Then the other question would be can you be dropped off at the entrance to guest camping?
