For what it's worth I always appreciated the fact that people dress fashionably at Coachella and that there is an attention to that amongst festival-goers. As someone who likes fashion it's interesting to me to see what people are pulling off. I think that's where a lot of the "want to be seen" stigma comes from but I think a lot of people just like to dress cool and there's nothing wrong with that.
So are you saying you also find deciding which shoes to wear to a fest debilitating?
True but I don't think I've ever viewed it like people going out of their way to dress trendy/fashionably at Coachella. I have always felt that it's more about people who dress that way in their everyday life just happen to make up a good amount of the Coachella audience. It would certainly help if I attended and wasn't basing this off hearsay and photos i've seen. But it's totally possible some people dress up even more than usual for a festival. We all know that people do that for other festivals (though swap out "fashionable" for "Banana costumes, superhero outfits, and general weird stuff").
To me that implies something inherently wrong with the character of people who dress fashionably if there is something distasteful about how Coachella is enjoyed by someone who seems to represent a certain (perhaps fashionably daily) demographic.
I'm still re-reading this trying to understand what it means. My brain isn't working.
You cannot release an album without a release date. Not a hard concept. You're getting ahead of yourself. Last year Major Lazer was supposed to have a new album out by Roo, and now its coming out in April (after having a March 2013 date).
That's fair enough, but it's pretty obvious to me how self-serving your continuous additions of hurdles to be considered an artist with a new album are. You ignore new releases from the past ten weeks, new releases that you don't like, and new releases where the artist specifically said the material might be played in summer shows even if the record isn't released. So basically your argument ends up being that a lot can be discerned about Bonnaroo based on the artists on its card that have new releases with confirmed release dates that specifically fall between February 19 and June 13, but only those that you like.

It probably doesn't make sense. Just saying that if your stance is that many people go to Coachella to be seen (I don't know if that is your stance), and you find that the majority of the demographic at Coachella is people who seem to dress fashionably, then you find something distasteful about the character of people who dress fashionably.

Haha I've suffered for fashion plenty of times at concerts/festivals but lately I've just given into my weak knees and back and wear New Balances. I typically opt for comfort, but there's nothing saying those people aren't comfortable as well. Perhaps not frankblack's "whores" in heels but whatevs.
that doesn't stop me from noticing the drawbacks to them looking good' and laughing about it when its 40 degrees in the desert.
same principle applies to women getting dotted up to go to the bar when it's 4 degrees out and complaining because they are cold. or their nipples are hard.

actions have consequences. get over it.
Evidently judgement being chief among those consequences.

Gotcha. Yea I wasn't sure if you were implying that I had a problem with people dressing fashionable or because of something my posts. I was just posting my observations and some things that I've heard brought up before (going to a fest to be seen). Personally I have no problem with what people wear/don't wear at fests and only dislike people who go to festivals for non-music reasons if those reasons have a real negative impact on the regular festival-goers (for example...if a party animal goes to Roo just to get messed up on stuff and then ruins a show for others because he's out of control/causing problems).
I think it's a pretty common statement I've seen brought up before: that Coachella tends to have more "fashionable" attendees. I obviously don't know if it's true but I don't usually hold anything against people based on their outfits.

sure. everyone makes judgements basically every second they're conscious.
some people are aware of that. others aren't. no worries.
like, godzilla, for example, is judging thehorm to be an obstinate prick because of his narrow view of what constitutes a new release. it may be true, it may be untrue.

Oh my god. I hate this thread today! What the heck is going on in here?
This festival is just over a month away, and those of us attending will have an amazeballs time. And those of you who aren't coming but don't want to let that stop you from judging a music festival you've never been to, you'll probably be at home watching the webcast.
In the words of my dear HS geometry teacher, Mr Mangold... QUIT BEIN A BUNCHA JERKS!
There are FAR more people who complain on the Internet about Coachella's crowd going to the festival "to be seen" than there are actual attendees who go to the festival to be seen. Such a misinformed generalization that I always seen thrown around here and other boards without any merit.
