So this is interesting. I know when I typed out my qualification, I with all seriousness meant "the" top headliner of each day. My memory served me wrong...I thought Coach always just did a solo top line act for each day, but looking now I see that's not always the case.
Anyways...I don't want people to think i'm a sore loser or trying to bail on a technicality. I'm seriously shocked that they actually made it to the top line, regardless that they're listed 2nd...so Juggs deserves some credit there. I guess we'll hash this out when he gets online.
My impression was a split headliner would be a draw.
They were just there two years ago as a pre-headliner playing mostly Centipede Hz material. There wouldn't have been any real reason to bring them back so soon.
And bands who I have no quacking clue who they are:
Grinderman | Johnny Marr | Luciano | The Shouting Matches | Jello Biafra | Jake Bugg | Sparks | Tokyo Ska Paradise | Seth Troxler | Deathfix | C2C | Palma Violets | IO Echo | Skinny List |
Descendents | Cafe Tacvba | the Make-Up | Allen Stone | The Selecter | The Evens | Biffy Clyro | Zane Lowe | Trash Talk | Action Bronson | Jason Bentley | The Wombats | Guards | Mona | Savages | Shoves & Rope | Huoratron | Reignwolf | Cassy | 3Ball MTY | Kids These Days | The Colourist
Raider Klan | OMD | Roni Size | The Airborne Toxic Event | Loco Dice | Jamie Jones | The Three O'Clock | Parov Stelar Band | Julio Bashmore | Maya Jane Coles | Joris Voorn | Hanni El Khatib | Danny Avila | Little Green Cars | James McCartney | Robert Delong | White Arrows | Deap Vally | Wild Belle | Ladies Night
WOW Thats a lot of quacking bands I have never heard of. I have some research to do.
How do you not know who Roni Size is? Drum and Bass. Since like 98 or maybe even 97

I was about to give him sh*t for that one too until I remembered that Phyllis has not been listening to EDM for years and years and was like 13 when New Forms came out. I think he will really like it when he listens to it. Well, either he likes it or I will be incredibly disappointed in him.

Ok. Now I understand a little. I was 15 in 99 and that's when I started going to TO for EDM. Never was really into Drum and Bass at the time. House has always been where my heart is. But I respect what Roni Size did for his genre.

Wow, they've threatened to do it several times, but Coachella has finally jumped the shark. Taken individually, the performers are not too bad, but to put them together and call it Coachella is a shock.
Only two wows, as far as I'm concerned: The Postal Service... and Sparks. For those to be the "wow"s, that's pretty sad.
I think youre list is great if Coachella is the only fest youre going to all year. The lineup is full of "festival whores" or names you'll see all over festivals this year.

I don't know what to say because honestly I don't know or am familiar with the majority here. I am going to have faith in the unknown, and hope that as I dig through the undercards I will discover more new stuff that really catches my ear.
My first reaction is a little dissapointed, but that's because I always fear change. I am the kind of guy that never wants to change restaurants or waitresses. I like consistency. This lineup is REALLY going to make me step out of my comfort zone musically.
Maybe that's a good thing? All I know is, thank GOD this fest is in my backyard. Makes the choice easier.
I want to go see Two Chainz so bad. I would laugh the whole time. That guy cracks me up! 2 Chainz!
I really hope he's playing early and not conflicting with anything I really want to see. I agree he'd be hysterical. I actually heard that he's entertaining as hell live.

Really? I'll agree with you on that with a handful of the bands that you see in lines 1-3, but I think a large majority of these acts won't do more than a festival or two here in the U.S. I'm curious as to who you think will be around a ton.
Dont get me wrong, theres definitly some "gets" that will only play a one off (stone roses, J5, Blur, Lou Reed etc.), but the second and third days almost read the gov. ball lineup (with the exception of the headlienrs). I feel like there are so many repeat names from other fests or bands that just finished up huge US tours. maybe this is a sign that Ive either oversaturated myself with live music to the point that Ive seen too much or Im getting older and it takes more to justify spending this much cash on a festival that Im only mildly interested when I know I can catch most of these names at a local venue or another festival
Just off the top of my head from your list: Nick Cave Lumineers Tame Impala Hawtin Grizzly Bear the XX Passion Pit of monsters and men Alt-J Purtiy Ring Beach House Local Natives Yeasayer Japandroids Dino Jr, Polica

People who go to Coachella will have an awesome time and see a ton of great music. Same for most other festivals. I hope the headliners hear the talk of "weak top acts" and play the hell out of their sets and blow people away. I won't be there but I'm sure it'll be a great weekend (either one). I just hope Roo has a few of the acts from the undercard as well.

Exactly. They take the image so serious. Just watch the video where they played outside early during that same tour in Atlanta. They were still into being dark and serious despite the sun being fully out.

Normally I think you're one of the better posters around here, but this is the worst thing you've ever said.
How you feel about my post is how I feel about Coachella 2013. Thanks for expressing it so concisely.
1) Because based ont he type of music you've claimed to like repeatedly, over and over, there's no way they would put out a lineup you'd be a fan of. Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell aren't playing a fest like Coachella. And plenty of people on here pay attention to threads for fests they aren't attending, because it's interesting to see who's playing where.
2) Other side of the coin - why are you (and others) so critical of it?
1) Right, because I haven't repeatedly claimed to like The National, Anais Mitchell, and a whole other cast of acts. You would know that if you strayed from the most visible threads, but then your trolling wouldn't get the attention you crave, so I understand your confusion. By the way, does Lou Reed know that Dylan types don't usually play Coach?
2) Because few people seem to be truly impressed by the lineup. Sure, there are some acts that would be fun to see, but as an overall festival, especially a major one, it's obviously sub-par to many people's expectations. Even those who live nearby are saying they're only going because of that fact.
